I cant believe i never knew of henerys passing until recently. It made my heart sad. That is the best mini series i have ever seen and i still watch it every time it is shown on cable. Rest In Peace Henry. When I initially heard of your passing, it brought me to tears. I loved you in the role of Shaka Zulu. I don't think that Shaka could have been played anymore believably than he was by you. Your dedication to the role...to BEING Shaka was chilling and pure genius. I have the DVD's an it is on my computer an I watch it OFTEN! You have added something very special to the entertainment world and I am happy to say that it can NOT be duplicated or replaced....I think that if they EVER thought of making that movie again a 3rd time....NO ONE could play Shaka as you did!!!! (SN: They should NOT have done a second one....but hey...) I love you Henry. It was such a pleasure to get to know and spend time with you as I did. Bayede

I remember watching Shaka Zulu in the 80's. I was 14 years old and I remember thinking to myself how amazing this movie is! I had no idea that Mr. Cele had died! I am shocked and extremly saddened at this loss. I am not sure how he died, but at 58 it is way to young for him to have departed this earth. I am watching Shaka Zulu right now and I wanted to see what the lead actor is up to these day's and I was shocked to see that he is no longer on this earth. Such a handsome man with beautiful dark skin and intense eye's. As a teenager, I never noticed how sexy he was. But, now as an adult woman, I do ;-) God Bless you Mr. Henry Cele. I hope you are at peace. I am very sad that we will not be seeing any recent work from you, but at least we can take joy in watching your films. From Atasha in the USA, R.I.P.

I remember when I was a late teenager and I saw Shaka Zulu for the first time.. I thought WOW.. The Movie is amazing and The Actor Henry Cele is the best for the part. Such intesitiy in those eyes tells the story of his emotions more than his words ever could. His belief in the charactor he portrayed was absolute.. From then on my passion for Africa started. 2 weeks ago I looked through my cupboards for my Shaka Zulu Video set and Couldn’t find it, nor could I find the book I bought so many years ago. So I went out and ordered the Box set DVD collection and watched it in its entirety over the last 3 days.. Its amazing how the songs and music were still ingrained so deeply in my mind that I still knew the words... My heart overflowed with happiness and my youngest son watched with me and loved the movie also. I decided late last night to check to see what Henry was up to these days and this is what I found.. Never in my worst nightmares would I ever have envisaged such a thing would happen to such a young and vibrant man still in the prime of his life... I am deeply saddened and many tears are shed in Australia at the moment. Much mourning over the next days for an incredible man with such heart... I hope you have found Peace Henry... and i wish your family all the best.. I am sorry that this is so late.. but I never expected this in a million years :-((( R.I.P Henry

Ndabasitha, I am just a white cracker, but watching the miniseries makes me wish I was Zulu and could follow you into battle!...I just paid $230 of my hard earned money to buy the EXTREMELY rare CD soundtrack from the miniseries...it is WORTH it...so I will starve for a while, at least I will hear We Are Growing in full stereo!...I wish there were more about you and your life to read.... Be a man of greatness now A man so tall, a man so kind Be a man of wisdome now A man of mind, a man of blind Be a man of kindness now A man so big and strong in mind Be a man so humble now A man of man, now let it shine This is what you are This is how it was planned now This is what to be Every kind of man now This is what to say With the kind of meaning This is what to feel With the kind of feeling We are growing Growing higher and higher We are growing Growing higher and higher He is growing Growing higher and higher We are growing Growing higher and higher Hear the children, hear the children They are talking to you Hear the wind blow, hear the wind blow It is blowing for you See the grass grow, see the grass grow It whispers his name See the fire blow, see the fire blow His heart's in the flame

Henry Cele was a phenomenal actor. His portrayal of Shaka Zulu was so profound and endearing. I was 14 years old the first time Shaka, Nandi and Shenakanagoza first become a realization to me. Over the years I have since wondered of my history and West African heritage. I was saddened to learn that Henry Cele had past away 4 years ago. The legacy he has left us with will forever be stenciled in the hearts, minds and souls of past and present generation. To his family I know the loss I feel and I never was fortunate enough to meet him in person, but only able to idolize him via television. May God comfort you and give you peace. I pray that the knowledge of his extraordinary efforts as a soccer phenomenon and the great SHAKA ZULU will give you comfort and joy. His physical body has long since gone, but his spirit and talent has forged a legacy that will surpass current and generations to come. May you rest in peace my dear brother. Nzagoza Biete Nzagoza!!!

Shaka Zulu is my favorite movie!!! I'm so proud that I was exposed to history when I first saw it when I was 5! Mr. Cele was sooooooo talented, I feel like I saw the REAL Shaka Zulu...he was AMAZING!!! Watching it now on Centric. May he Rest in Love Forever! :-)))

I LOVE You! Mr. Cele.....I have loved you before I saw the entire mini series of SHAKA ZULU, I saw a broadcast of soccer and you were playing! How graceful and talented you were then.... I knew that you would blow the world away with your very strong presence on the screen! You were born to play this character because you are a son of the most highest! I love your passion as you played Shaka! I believe that a lot of the actions of the character is how you really were; how I as well as others are! The Love for your family and some may say that the "revenge" was too brutal, but you fought with a force. Viewing Shaka Zulu today on Centric in the United States lifts my spirit and again gives me pride of what we as a people should always stand for. This is History in the making and this series is very close to what was going on during this time period. Every January on Mr. Cele's birthday, I pull out the video in honor of him! I often wonder why we don't have that same pride and strength now in this day in age and how angry I am that history has shown that we are "strong people"! I feel pity for those who slander this fine man's name to depict him as "dying anger"...He didn't get the recognition that he deserved but now as he rest in heaven, another guardian angel for all of us............ Mr. Cele's performance have given us a history lesson of our people; we learned that nothing was done (King George) without a Black Man saying it was alright! Mr. Cele's talent and discipline as he portrayed this very intelligent, strong, and wise King of the Zulu (some may say he was brutal..not me), I say Thank You Mr. Cele... Thank you for giving me back what I always have know..... Bayede!! Rest In Peace My Sweet Angel, we will meet in another life! Tonka

I have watched Shaka Zulu as a child. I was unaware of who Henry Cele was because to my young mind I was watching not an actor but a great african king. Henry Cele performance was dynamic and compelling. I felt proud to be of such heroic and beautiful descent. Henry Cele portrayal of this great king of past history has done a great justice. Even now I watch shaka zulu as I did back when I was a child the only difference is I'm sharing this great movie with my children and I am reminding them of our past heritage with the performance of a great actor henry cele. I remember watching Shaka Zulu as a freshman in college and how Henry Cele's presence on the screen was the epitome of a king, very strong willed, domineering, and demanding. He possessed true wisdom and leadership. After reading his bio, the various roles he had in his own life had to help him prepare for this spectacular role. I had no idea he passed away in which I am ver sorry to hear. His physical presence alone would make anyone bow down to him (lol). Although Shaka had a ruthless side to him, young men could learn a lot about being a real man from him.

I'm watching Chaka Zulu as I type and this miniseries is of great honor. I watched it when it first aired and often since. I don't buy it only because I want to miss it and look forward in seeing it. I make my kids watch it but they can't appriciate Mr. Cele and his work right now. He knows how to tell a story without word. His demeanor said it all. I live in Los Angeles, CA and often wonder why wAsn't he truly recognized in the USA? I found out about his homegoing 30 minutes ago. I am so sorry. May all good things happen for your family.
