Jim and I remember Eve and Fred being the first folks to welcome us to Little Turtle Townhomes. They sat on boxes in our garage. We had a very friendly conversation. I would often say, and Eve would agree, that she and I were very much alike in so many ways. When I was with Eve, I often thought that I was looking at myself. We got along quite well. We will always remember Eve to be strong- willed, energetic, compassionate, and always generous. And she always took great pride in her appearance. She loved Fred and her entire family and would often talk about everyone. Jim and I shared many Christmas and Summer seasons together with them and Eve really enjoyed all of our holiday decorations throughout the years. She would say how much she liked Jim teasing her with his sense of humor and also his helpfulness. We were very happy for them always. But we did become a little disappointed when Eve told us they were moving to Texas. The best part was having them next door for our first 10 years. Our best neighbors ever. I will always miss our chats while standing on the air conditioners looking over the fence. Fred would holler "Come on over!" However, Eve is still with us, as we have many gifts and furnishings in our home that Jim and I fondly refer to as "Eve's." I am sitting on her outdoor swing and having a cup of coffee in one of her many gifts. Eve, you will be in our hearts Always. Karen and Jim.

I remember coming home from school and my mother was watching "I Love Lucy" and laughing so hard she was tearing! She proceeded to recap the entire episode for me and we both ended up laughing and crying! You had to be there . . . . . Kathleen
I cannot say it any better than Kathleen & Jeff did. Mom was always taking care of her children and husband. She was warm, loving, understanding and always with you when you needed someone. She loved her 'house exective' position, as she referred to it. Her 'rise & shine' wake up call we got every morning puts a smile on my face today. Then it was always followed by some chore we needed todo. Which now that I think about it today is pretty normal. She always had a way of saying it so that you wanted to do it. She made it fun. I know that she has told me what is important for me to know. I still have questions & now I don't know who I am going to ask. I just have to trust myself because she has already given me the answer. I am still going to miss her every day. She will be missed but I know that she is watching over us. I love you Mom.
I already miss our chats! Wonder how it must be sitting before our Heavenly Father. {Save me a seat!} I will check in on Fred- Love, Brother Dick

Uncle Dick, Mother loved you dearly!! You two had a very special bond and always will! love, Kathleen
At the DuBord family reunion and watching them dance and knowing she had such a kindred spirit! My love and prayers go onward and upward for ALL of our families!!
Where do I begin to name the countless ways my Mother nurtured me, loved me, taught me, comforted me, encouraged me? Her smile would light up a room. When she was not in the room, her presence was missed. I remember as a little girl watching her as she applied her makeup to go out dancing with Dad and thinking "she is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen". I enjoyed going shopping with her but had to literally run to keep up with her--she was a whirlwind in a store! I remember around 5 o'clock each summer evening she would freshen her makeup and put on a new blouse because her beloved Fred was coming home from work soon. She would cut fresh Gladiolas or roses from her garden and arrange them artistically in a vase. I think that was when I first fell in love with gardening. Mother used to get laryngitis every year about the same time in the winter. Maybe because she loved to talk so much that her throat needed a rest! Anyway, one year the doctor said she had to go for 30 days without talking to rest her voice box. You can just imagine the sacrifice that took! Dad decided to buy her a Magic Slate so she could write out what she wanted to say and she wore it with a string around her neck. Of course, us kids saw a good opportunity to not "hear" her or read the slate. She was so frustrated! Christmas was Mother's favorite holiday. She would make all the Christmas decorations herself and decorate every room in the house. And she would bake a freezer full of frosted Christmas cookies. We would wait til she and dad were out dancing and raid the freezer. Those cookies were the best! Mother had a bell collection: crystal bells, silver bells, pewter, etc. Recently when I visited her in Texas she was frantic to find a small silver bell about 1 1/2 inches high. She thought it was lost in the move from Colorado. She finally found it and gave it to me and said there was note in it that I should read after she died. It was so tiny but read "Love to all our children: Melanie, Kathleen, Mark, Jeffery from your Mom". They taught square dancing and round dancing for over 40 years--made so many friends! She cried when they had to quit dancing due to Dad's illness. She called me the day she sold her can-cans and round dance dresses and she was so sad! The last Christmas they spent with us in La Jolla was most special. She and Dad danced to live music at the La Valencia! That is why I had my ring tone set as “Dancing Queen” so I knew when she was calling me! Loved watching birds! “first Robin of Spring”--she would call us kids over to the window and say “look it is the first Robin of Spring!” she would get so excited and bring out some bread crumbs to him. Of course, she had to leave them in the snow which had not yet melted. Hummingbirds were a special favorite of hers. She had feeders in front of her kitchen window and delighted to watch them hover and feed. She sent me a picture from the internet showing a woman holding a small dish of red hummingbird liquid in her hand and the birds were feeding and even sitting on her wrist. So, one whole summer she tried that .. . . .not sure if it ever worked but she had fun trying. Mother suffered a stroke shortly after moving to Texas and it took some time to regain her speach. When Joseph and I went to visit her she confided in me that she forgot how to say her prayers. So she and I practiced the Our Father and Hail Mary together and it gradually came back to her. I will miss talking to her everyday on the phone. She was my best friend and confidant and I don't know what I will do without her! I love you Mom! and miss you so much! Was not ready for you to go but I know you are at peace in Paradise! your daughter, Kathleen
May she rest in peace in Paradise.
There was no better mother-in-law I could have ever wished for. I have learned a lot from Yvette during the time they lived in Denver. Still trying to learn the never ending patience Yvette had with the children. I remember one day Jeff and I left Anna (about 2 yrs at the time) with Fred and Yvette, so we could go out on a date. Yvette tried to get Anna to take a nap in her bed but Anna refused and laid down on the family room floor instead. Of course Grandma went to lie down right next to Anna. At that point Anna started laughing and Yvette had to as well. They decided to have a snack instead and resumed playing. One great example of Yvette's never ending patience with her grandchildren. Yvette told us just before they moved to Texas that when she dies she will visit us in form of a hummingbird. For next year we have planned to hang up a bunch of hummingbird feeders and plant a red geranium in every flower pot. We can't wait for spring 2011 and the first hummingbird in our back yard! Yvette we love you so much and you will be missed greatly!!! Thank you for eveything you have done for us! We will never forget you! Susanne, Anna, Tobias and Matthias
We love you!
She loved us unconditionally.
Yvette and I grew closer after she and Fred moved to Texas. I always respected and loved her and I learned many things from her, especially making "mush", which my children still like to this day. She had such a strong spirit and a will to live. She was quite a role model. And she always told us that she loved us - she wasn't afraid to tell you she loved you. I'll miss her. She's with God now and at peace. Miss you and love you, Mother. Marisa
