My memories of Bill go back fifty years or more. He was a close family friend back then and, having a great interest in the piping world, was a regular friend of my father, Jack Copeland.
I think he joined the the Victorian Scottish Regiment like I did but I'd already left to go up country teaching. He & I often had a private giggle at some of the things my father said and did.
I tried to get in touch with him recently but alas, too late; I've been in Thailand for 17 years now.
Bill was a thorough gentleman and will always be remembered as such.
Rest in peace, but with pipes and drums in the distance.
