I first met Anne & the children in Cooma about 1970/71 whilst working for a contractor (Joe Gordon) on the Snowy scheme.Ulick was working away in Sydney at the time.
My ex wife & I often visited Anne & the kids. One day I took Keiran (or did he take me ?) fishing on the Snowy River .
I remember the time that Ulick came to our place back in Sydney for dinner. We had also invited a friend of ours ,guitar teacher & singer Mary Martinu that night & she was so pleased to meet ulick. The night progressed into a bit of a jamming session which I made an amateurish recording of & still have to this day.
So sorry to hear of Ulicks death but will always remember him.

Remember Tumut, and the little house by the railway lines? I remember Ulick, Anne, Kieran (singing "Jindabyne", aged eight), Shannon and little Conpatrick....Peter Barry, too; but so many memories of Ulick, his songs, music and poetry. I was 15 years old, and my father took me to meet Ulick, somehow knowing that I would adore him, and never, ever forget. He helped me with my year 10 English essays (noteably one called "Rat Poison"), let me tag along to a recording studio in Wagga, a film session out at the dam, and generally be an addition to the family. I had never seen zucchini until Anne put them in a stew and fed me! I last saw Ulick and Anne when they lived at Bondi, not long after so sadly losing little Conpatrick, and with a tiny new baby, who must have been Odille. I so, so regret not having kept in contact, and will always remember Ulick as one of the truly remarkable, totally unforgettable people in my life. Strangely, a couple of months ago I broke into Snowy Mountains songs, and kept at it for weeks, much to my husband's dismay.....and only now I have heard of Ulick's passing. Please, all of the family, accept my very sincere condolences for the loss of Ulick, and be sure that he will forever be in my heart, too.
