Noel wasn't a "blood" uncle in the true sense of the word, but was affectionately called "uncle" as you do for a close family friend that you have known for some 60 years. He was a lovely man and a highlight of my younger years in the '50s and 60's was to visit the family home in Brown St, Bronte and enjoy great times with Noel, Nola, Harvey & Kim (Flossie to her dad). Uncle Noel organised my first set of golf clubs and once challenged Nola to a game of golf - he with a 5-iron and a putter and her with her full set of clubs - and won! He will be missed but had a "good knock" reaching 93 and definitely had a life to be celebrated. Ian Crothers 15/6/11
