I am so very sad to discover this brilliant naturalist, this truly inspirational man has passed on.. no longer contributing his knowledge and sharing his love of creatures in the wild to us all.
Ted became a friend to my daughter and me when I hosted a tv chat show in Port Pirie in 1989 - 90. He often came on the show with various exotic creatures and particularly Olive, the python, whom he renamed Christine because I was so enchanted with her.
I have some beautiful photos to remember Ted, especially one of my daughter at the sanctuary with one of Ted's huge pythons gently wrapping her neck .. and another of Ted carrying her around as she had a bee sting on her foot! Today I looked for Ted because I wanted to ask him a question about a beautiful black cockatoo who is not well. Ted loved the native birds too and one day he had Olive and Monty (another python he was treating after swallowing a toxic parrot) a green tree frog and a fabulous, very large Major Mitchell in the studio with him !!
I have kept the videos and if the family would like to see these I will be happy to hear from you. I am very proud to have known Ted. I can only imagine how proud his family must be.
Vale Ted. You gave to me a new wisdom. I am eternally grateful to you for that. Much love, Christine Howard.

I am shocked and deeply saddened to come across this.
Fond memories of working in the office at Bowman Park for 2 years with Ted (early 90's). My strongest memory was traveling to Adelaide with Ted and 40 brown snakes so he could do a marathon snake sit in at the shopping centre. I've never been more terrified sitting in that car hearing that hissing for 2 hours! There was never a dull moment when Ted was around.
Thoughts are with Angela, Justin and Nicole.
