I first knew Julie in 1983 through the Brighton Babysitting Club and also the Brighton Toy Library. She had a very kind nature and always displayed a commonsense attitude to any questions which arose. In later years I knew her at St Leonard's College where our children attended. She was such a stalwart of the school community, taking on many valuable roles especially in relation to the Music School, and encouraged others simply by her example of dedication to whatever she did. Julie contacted me after reading a letter I wrote to the newspapers on behalf of women with advanced cancer. I was overjoyed to make contact with her, to finally meet someone in my situation who thought as I did. In the short time I knew her she became a true friend. I admired her courage and her beauty and her capacity for love. I will miss you Julie. I send my love to Clarrie, Jessie and Celia. If you would ever like to talk, I am available, Debbie
