I was shocked to hear of Marty's passing and remember him clearly and fondly from the time we were apprentices together at Williamstown Naval Dockyard starting in 1963. I also did Part A of my Chief Engineer's certificate with Marty at RMIT in 1980. Both Neil Robertson (also a fellow dockyard apprentice) and I have been reminiscing about our recollections of the times we had with him and teasing him mercilessly to get his goat (always successfully I might add).
