Where do I even start with Markus? I guess I will never look at a netball skirt without getting depressed and there will always be something missing when I'm out at parties. Honestly, I can't even remember the first time I spoke to you Markus, you were a constant. An unforgettable presence that drew the eye. We often stood together watching the party, sharing long and drawn out yarns. You were a mixture of amazing tales of wild enjoyment and those that brushed the darkest depths of human existence. You always empathised with those who took the time to talk to you and you always seemed to have the right thing to say to make me smile or cry, whichever was more appropriate to the situation. When I told you it was my lifelong desire to learn how to sail, it was your stories of hiring catamarans in Darwin and warm tropical nights spent on Yachts off the coast of Asia that pushed me to take the plunge. You even recommended the best place to learn. Now for the rest of my life, when I'm out there in a sail boat under the endless skies, I will think of you Markus and hope that wherever you are, you are resting comfortably. - Mel xox
