I was sorry to hear of Ray's passing. In those early days iin the mid 50's I was posted as Lt Pharmaceutical to a new unit being raised 1 Field Dressing Station FDS and we were very fortunate to have Lt Ray Grant posted as adjutant. This was a new unit and a new concept in the Medical Corps. Ray's initiative and foresight played a great part in having the unit functional and accepted. Nothing was ever too much for Ray and I can remember him having special evenings at his home for a couple of young officers who were sitting for their First Appointment exams. Ray and Lesley were most hospitable on these occasions. Ray was able to bring to bear a great approach to staff duties which we always thought was a tribute to his intelligence and dedication. Having come as I understand from a position of a signwriter in civvy street, it was good to see him as his career blossomed and he was always available for advice on military matters. A great friend and a great Officer. Farewell. Warwick

Hi Warwick - many thanks for your kind words on my fathers tribute web site. He never really opened up and discussed much of the detail in his many years in the Army. I wish he did this as so many memories and wonderful stories are now lost but I guess he had his reasons for not wanting to talk about much of what he saw and did. Thanks again for leaving some thoughts from his many years with the RAAMC. Regards John Grant

Dad, you were like the sun to me, a sure thing, always there, beaming light and warmth on my life. Whatever is good in me today I owe to your wisdom, your patience, your strength, your love. You taught me by example how to be my own person, how to believe in myself and how to give without receiving. Even when we disagreed you held us together. Our bond will never be broken. I appreciate all that you did for me, and I am so grateful that I had you as my solid foundation, my rock. Tell Mum how much I love her and thank her for letting me know she was on her way to meet you. I respect you, I admire you, I love you. But I so desperately miss you. I will not say farewell, nor even goodbye, but rather 'bon voyage". Rest peacefully now, and then greet me with open arms when we meet again ... Forever your Darling Daughter Helen xox

Ray, thank you so much for the advice, support and enjoyment you have given us. I know you are at peace now and have endless stories to tell Lesley, but your departure has left a big hole in our hearts. You were a pleasure to live with and a great role model for my two children. Pa you know how much they loved you,and I am truly thankful that you were able to spend such quality time with them, time you and I both know they will cherish forever. Don't worry about Gertie and I as you have lived with us for long enough to know that we are a great team. Rest peacefully now Ray and hopefuly you cherished the times we had together as much as I did, love Jason

We are all saddened by the passing of our old mate John Raymond Grant but are thankful for the wonderful times we spent together. Ray, you welcomed me into your home when I was a young bloke and as a mate of Johns we shared many great experiences together. Sitting around the TV with Leslie and Pop and that fantastic trip to Lakes Entrance are just two of the wonderful memories that have been running through my mind over these last few days. Treating me like an adult when in fact I was just a crazy young kid was one way of imparting some of your vast experience onto me - 'to get respect you must show respect' You know that I'll be at John's side through the good times and the bad - as the son of a digger I know that he has made you very proud. God bless you Ray, be peaceful in the arms of your loving wife... till we meet again! Our thoughts and prayers are with John, Helen and their families during this difficult time. Yours always Mark & Linda Jenkins Emma, Sarah & Tom Jenkins Gwen, Anthony & Megan Jenkins
