"Life is made up of sobs, sniffles, and smiles, with sniffles predominating." ~ O. Henry, "The Gift of the Magi" This video is in memory of Uncle Nobby who passed away on Thursday. He played a big part in all our lives when we were kids. I will never forget our many visits to their house in Pendle Hill to visit him, Aunty Barbara and David. He often worked shift work for a major newspaper (I think it was the sports section), and it was through him that I was first introduced to the short stories of O. Henry. We are so lucky to still have these old super 8 films of those great times in the 70’s with him, Uncle Pat, Aunty Isabel and the rest of the gang, those get togethers were so much fun and an unforgettable part of our childhood (a video of some of those memories are attached). We will miss him and forever remember him. The Dougherty Family

Uncle Nobby and the Sweeney family were great friends of my parents and all our family.
They helped us when we came to Australia, always inviting us to their place for meals, even though there were 8 of us.
Uncle Nobby introduced me to appreciate horse and dog racing, and the kids remember him introducing them to curry popcorn!
It's been great knowing you Uncle Nobby.
Love,
Fred, Patsy, Nicola and Sally
