I was in the same Police Cadet class with Batesy in 1973 and have many fond memories of our early policing days. The two of us took off on a month long car trip around NSW, SA and Vic as 18 year olds. A good policeman and an even better friend, we have kept in touch over the years and its extremely sad to lose a good mate. Owen KING
