A man of integrity, dedication and caring...he gave so many of us our start in music - One of my first stories of Jules - As a young starting copyist, I had copied the trumpet parts for a record session and anxiously showed up at Jules' session to hand out the parts. Not knowing any of the players I hadn't asked who was sitting 1st. Of course, Jules, being a 1st trumpet player in his own right knew all the players...Not realizing there was this "common courtesy" that the 1st trumpet player was always designated I handed the 1st trumpet part to one of the players - he, and the trumpet player next to him, both grabbed the part and wrestled it until it tore in two! I was mortified! Went running to Jules, who was watching this whole scenario unfold and, he was chuckling, and I said "Oh, my God, what should I do?" And he answered without missing a beat, "Get some scotch tape". Oy - the beginning of many wonderful and hilarious years of working together - Open the heavens with your trumpet, Jules! You will be missed,,, With love, Suzie K
This is a shocking news for me. He was a great colleague and helped me out quite a few times. A true gentle soul. I will miss you Jules. Rest In Peace. Farhad Behroozi
