I met John in POW hospital -he was in the next bed for a while and I very much enjoyed his company. In many ways we were very different but I enjoyed his language and the stories he told about surfing and fishing. We made a pact to go out fishing one day. I have kept in touch with John by phone and was saddened to read of his death. He was a good man, wonderful company and during all the time I knew could only see what was positive. He will be missed as there are not many people like John.

My fondest memory was of dad when he dressed up as a King of Egypt for Larrys Dress Up Party.
