Although Don was from a much older generation, I as webmaster and co creator of the site www.exroyalmarinesbandsmen.net can safely say that Don was a wonderful writer with a vivid memory of happier times. I'm sure I speak for many when I say how much I have been touched by the man, his artful writing skills and his devotion and love for his beloved Iris.

I will always have happy memories of Iris and Don - a few hazy ones from my childhood before they emigrated to Oz with Gillian and Stephen, many later ones when they were doing their grand European tour and stayed periodically with John and Peggy at Elstead in Surrey but more recently, in 2006, when Tim and I stayed with them for a week in Warragul during our Australian holiday. They will be greatly missed, may they both rest together in eternal peace. All our love, Meryl x and Tim x
