I have lovely memories of being at Oakridge and having lunch under the oak trees with the family. There were always boiled eggs and beetroot and it was magical under the shade of those oaks. Irene was also the first person to tell me the names of many types of flowers that I still remember today. She loved her garden and I remember thinking how much pleasure it gave her. In winter, I remember her pea and ham soup, which was everyone's special favorite.
