Ian and I shared an office for two years in 1969/70. During that time we commuted together, socialised together, had a drink with the blokes together and formed a friendship that endured many changes. Ian was the calmest, most even tempered of men and was respected by all, not only for his undoubted intelligence, but more for his kindness and generosity. He will be sadly missed.
