Can you imagine the shock of surfing the net and finding out that the man who for, me is the greatest man who ever lived in Africa, was long rested with our great ancestors in 2007? Oh GOD in heaven, please rest this wonderful soul in continued peace with all our forefathers and may you bring out another great son of the soil, just so Africa may continue at the marvels of our past which were only made possible by YOU oh GOD. Shaka and Henry Cele are to me one and the same person. May his wife, children, family and friends take heart and know that the spirit of Africa will never be extinguished. Am deeply pained by the loss, but i know that our ancestors are always watching over us and another shall be sent to soothe our worn out hearts and a re-birth will be experienced. This year is exactly 3 years since you left, may GOD bless us all, those of us who have lost the people we so dearly loved, may the pain fade away but the good memories stay alive forever. "MUNGU IBARIKI AFRICA"-(Swahili for "GOD BLESS AFRICA."

May God watch over and keep your family well. I so wanted to meet you.

Oh Dear Henry taken at your best and I and many others hunger for your continued presence. I admired your performances first and formost for the performance of Shaka and then other performances in Ghost in the Darkness and others. I remember being in the theater for Ghost in the Darkness and seeing Henry. I yelled out "Oh my God ... Its Henry !!! " Others in the theater looked and turned to me as if I had seen a family member. What a beautiful man and how lucky his family was to have known him as I yearned to know of him personally. I never was able to get a message to Oprah Winphrey to meet him in person as I always wanted. As I have searched the internet for information I am still not satisfied. My thirst for knowledge of him and his life, personality and work is but a dream. His passing to early, his work not complete. Blessings to his beautiful wife and family. May he be resting gracefully in heaven where I hope I will meet him another time. Much Love
Debbie from Pittsburgh pa.

I am so sorry o hear of his death, god blesss him. Let me say that Henry had the body of the gods, He will be missed

I am truly sorry to hear that Henry Cele is gone. I hope that he is Christian. His role in Shaka Zulu was wonderful and will be seen my millions. God's blessing on his family.

What in the blue blazes does it matter weather he was a christian or not ?. That`s what I really despise about you godsquad morons !. Can`t you just take him as the fine actor that he was without trying to drag him into your religious fantasy as well ????.

Dear God...Look At Him! he never even needed the attire from Shaka to see the regality of a king all over his face! even with just a suit on...he commanded your attention and respect! easily the most beautiful black man I have (ever) laid eyes on! I would've relished in the opportunity to have met him; and my heart is broken to have just learned, (October 19, 2010), that we have lost him!..(tears) I wish with all of my might that his heart had the joy of a child before he left this cold and cruel world. Someone as precious as he was did not deserve to die unhappy! There "is" no forgettting you Mr. Cele'...you are burned into my memory and my heart, and I pray that peace and joy overflow for you now! "BLACK CAT...WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR THUNDERING BLACK SHIELDS!"

your shaka zulu role was played great, you made a master pieceof that tv serie, The best Shaka Zulu ever played and in one word MAGISTRAL. RIP HENRY CELE

You played that role very well, and that role was a good person...And because of you as King Shaka I leard more about my own peoples history thank and RIP

wounderful actor and a tribute to the african people of a man that protrayed shaka zulu so well that there never will be another to fill his shoes....i acknowledge the man that he was and still is in my memories...i have and still do enjoy watching the episode

You were my Hero, your portrayal of Shaka was Breath taking, and as a child to see some one with my skin color rule over a nation was inspiring, you will be missed.

Role well payed in Shaka Zulu RIP.. Cele..

You were a great person and you still are. We will never forget.

i love shaka zulu i love henry cele i am in ghana and i always watch shaka even today

I am a White boy, and Whites can love Henry too. He is the greatest. I loved his performance. I just watched the movie again today - Shaka Zulu. So, so wonderful.

Thank you for the wonderful memories in Chaka Zulu! You made us believe that you was this infamous man who had incredible warriorship, leadership qualities, strength, and of course, agility. You told his story through your abilities of acting. I believe strongly that he would have been proud of your accomplishments. May you rest in peace and I will see you again until my brother, be with Christ and he will give you your crown of glory!

Your performance as the "Great Elephant" Shaka Zulu was terrific. Like Tony said, "that character would have been nothing without your passion or look". It's amazing how you fit this character; I can't help but seing Shaka in you.
Henry, may your soul rest in perfect peace. We had great moments watching your performance on TV; you were a great man on screen and certainly in reality.
May your soul rest in perfect peace

God Bless - a REAL Brother and Black Man!
Only Shaka Zulu (Henry Cele) and Kunta Kente (Levar Burton/John Amos) has shown the true warriors of my People on film. I played the theme song of the movie Shaka Zulu during my wedding ceremony. I will never forget such a great and talented Black Man as you, my Brother.

thank you for being blessing to us. the world misses u alot forever! rest in peace

I just learned Mr Cele was deceased. I didn't know of hm before Shaka Zulu but that one role left an indelibile impression on me. Its my favorite miniseries of all time and I think I've watched virtually everytime its aired. And as soon as it was out on dvd, I bought it. That character would have been nothing without Henry Cele's passion or look. His eyes were so incredibly penetraing that I used to have nightmares about being chased by Shaka. His voice, that incredible voice and body but mostly his screen presence will be sorely missed. My prayers go out to his family and fans.

big up respect my brother! u shale never be forget spirit man bless jah king og kings!

In great memory of a true GREAT BLACKMAN who portrayed one of our greatest kings. Henry Cele is a king himself he truely bought the spirit SHAKA ZULU into the hearts of men during that time when i was a sophomore in college that is one movie all young black men should see i still have it today. PEACE AND BLESSING my beloved brother and may GOD be pleased with you..

I am a big fan of Henry Cele I love you for ever

I shall always remeber Henry Cele as the great Shaka Zulu. My first memories of him i shared with my father when i was a child. Now as a father with children of my own, I shall now share with them. This shall be one of my treditions I shall uphold in my family. The story of the Zulu King, Shaka Zulu.

I saw Shaka Zulu when I was 16, and the memory of it never quite left me until I watched it again in July 2010. I was riveted both times, and I am saddened at Mr. Cele's death. His role as Shaka communicated determination, intensity, and aggression. In a day when men are flabby, timid, and unmanly, Cele and Shaka are refreshingly different (and better). Though I realize the historical Shaka took things too far, nevertheless I still admire and appreciate his zeal. He didn't "respect a man's right to be lazy." Neither do I. In my mind, Mr. Cele will always embody that ideal, and as I work at the things I love, his memory will motivate me to do it with all my might.

that was tha man rite there he put his son into tha movie also if i was a actor i will tell them to let me play as shaka zulu r.i.p henry cele

TRULY EXCELLENT MOVIE, LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. HENRY PORTRAYED SHAKA WONDERFULLY. HE IS GREATLY MISSED.

AFTER SEEING SHAKA ZULU IN THE MID EIGHTIES , HENRY'S PORTRAYAL OF SHAKA ALWAYS STAYED WITH ME.....AFTER FINDING IT ON YOUTUBE RECENTLY ... I NOW REMEMBER WHY..... HIS ACTING WAS SUPERB ... HE "WAS " SHAKA... AND WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY BOOK.....A TRU LOSS TO THE ACTING WORLD........TRAVEL WELL BRO

Rest in Peace, Thank you for the inspiration for millions of people who watch Shaka Zulu!!!!!!, surely you are sitting in heaven with God.

THERE IS ONLY ONE NKOSI YAMA NKOSI, LONG LIVE THE GREAT ELEPHANT.

I was devastated to learn of the death of our'' shaka zulu ''....... no one could have done it better than MR HENRY CELE......... i salute you...such a great actor ...my condolencesto his wife ,children an family.....R.I.P my brother.

Am so shocked After 3 years to read that Henry Cele died. I send my condolences to the world at large for the great loss of both a legendary film actor and a soccer player. Shaka Zulu is the only film that shows a typical barbaric ancient life of a purely African monarchical society. You will always be remembered the Great 'SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKAAAAAAAAA' Cele.

"NOW YOU ARE A KING" RIP Henry Cele one of the greatest actors that I have ever seen! luv you!

I was reading the history of Zimbabwe and went into WiKip.... and as I read on I came across the notice of Mr. Henry Cele's death which took me completely by surprise. I am overwhelmed with sadness & grief with his passing. Shaka Zulu was (is) such a great film & mini series that I watch it several times a year again and again because his portrayal is so striking and compeling it placed you right there in time, and made you feel you new Chaka Zulu personally, and this is how he was or should have been. I chose my country flag icon to show how far and wide, and reaching his audience was and how much he was (is) appreciated and admired. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Jenny, his children and extended family members. Rest in Peace

So sad to read that he's dead, I loved the serie Shaka Zulu, I look at the video's once a year and I've read the book four times already. May he rest in peace.

I just found out about Mr.Cele death. I was devistated,I had no idea this great man had died.I haved watch the movie Shaka Zulu to many time to count. The part was made for him and only him, there is not one moment in the day that he doesnt cross my mind at one point or another. In my mind, that one part made him the greatest actor of all times for me.I feel as though I have lost a love one.I have not had a chanch to tell my wife yet, this will hurt her im sure.May Allah bless his family,we love you.

Today 4/16/10 ME AND MY CO-WORKERS DECIDED TO WATCH THE AWARD WINNING AND COMPLELLING MOVIE SHAKA ZULU. THIS IS MY 6TH TIME WATCHING BUT MY CO-WORKERS FIRST, SHE WAS BLOWN AWAY FROM CELE PERFORMANCE. WE DECIDED TO GOOGLE HIM AND DO A SMALL RESEARCH... OMG! I WAS DEVISTATED TO FIND OUT THAT HE HAD PASSED.. IM STILL IN DISBELIEF.. HE WAS TRULY AMAZING AND AN ICON OF TALENT.. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS LOVED ONES. GOD BLESS

I too just learned of Mr. Cele's death and am heart broken, he was a brilliant actor and a gorgeous and beautiful black man. He will be missed. May he rest in peace and God bless his family.

Henry Cele was Shaka Zulu! A great true story teller! No one could have done it better than he!

I just learned of his death in 2007, very sad. I thought I'd look his name up because I have the mini-series on dvd, and am watching it my boyfriend; it's his first time, and my fifth. There are some wonderful actors in this series: Christopher Lee, Gordon Jackson, Robert Powell, and of course, the amazing Henry Cele...actors we don't see the equal of today.
I remember watching Henry Cele in the Eighties when this series first screened on New Zealand television. I remember being absolutely transfixed by the powerful and intense portrayal of Shaka Zulu by this wonderful actor. To this day, I think he is one of the most beautiful black men I've ever seen in my life. He embodied the spirit of the proud, fearless and flawed leader of the Zulu nation. Very talented man. RIP, Sir, and thank you for a brilliant role!

I've watched shaka zulu so many times. I love it. Have the dvd's and the movie nore Henry got the credit they deserved for such a well played well thought out and fantastic movie. this is the first i am hearing of his death as well. But he will be remebered because it was like he embodied Shaka. Wonderful talent. RIP

I REMEMBER WATCHING HIM IN SHAKA, WHAT AN AMAZING PART HE PLAYED. A LEADER OF ZULU, VERY POWERFUL TO WATCH. I ALWAYS WANTED TO MEET MR. CELE AND I NEVER KNEW HE PAST ON. GOD BLESS HIS SOUL AND FAMILY

This is April 2010 and I have just discovered that Henry (Shaka) has passed away. I am stunned, shocked and saddened. Such a powerful, and talented individual taken so young. I have the whole DVD collection of Shaka and I watch it at least every 6 months. I found his performance as Shaka hypnotic and very educational. As a result I have learned to love the Zulu culture, the rythums and history. Henry is an inspiration and will always be remembered by myself with great affection and I wish he was still with us. John (Australia)

I remember Henry in his role as Shaka as it made me proud to be South African. Its with great sadness I hear only now of his death. I met him at the crocodile park on the south coat and I still have the picture of him and me on my wall proudly displayed.
From a very very sad and upset South African

I know it's kinda late, but still it is a shock for me that our friend, leader of many many Zulu's has passed away.
Now the moviecostume what I am making will be a proper tribute to one of his. Because it will be a hybrid of a Zulu king and a preador.
Take care Jenny Hollander you will not be forgotten some as your husband.

I can remember when I was in the eleventh grade Shaka Zulu came on television for the first time. My history teacher had us do a 6 page report on the movie as well as the life of Shaka. I am never been touched by a movie in my life. This movie gave me pride in my ancestors. Henry Cele has been and forever will be my favoriate actor and hero. God bless him and his wife.

I am American married to and ngoni from Zulu, and I am so proud to know the history of my husband's people. Now it is apart of my own and will be our children. Henry's role as Shaka moved me. I wept. I laughed. I shouted and I sang. I emerged Zulu!
