Helena May was warm, funny, enthusiastic, intelligent and wise, and a marvellous cook to boot. My husband, Darrel, and loved to be in her company. We were not in Australia when Helena passed away, although we knew she was fighting for her life, so were very sad and sorry to find out so recently that we had lost a special friend. We first met Helena and Maurice as the parents of Raphael, a school friend of our oldest son, Roland. Our relationship was reestablished when the Mays bought a property in Mount Wilson.
We feel very sad as we pass the gates to their mountain home, and know she is not there with Maurice.
