Dear Maureen, I wanted to take the time to write to you today, to express my sympathy for the loss of your husband Gordon. Like you, my life has been touched by the untimely death of a loved one. My friends and family were a great comfort, but what helped me to cope was reflecting on the Bible's hope of seeing my loved one again, in what the Bible calls the Resurrection Hope". When all our dear friends and family that have passed away, will be brought back to life. Here are just a couple of scriptures in the Bible which describe this hope. Isaiah 25:8 " He (God) will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces".... John 5:28 "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (the voice of Jesus) and come out". Another good memory: Dad got me my first job, only temporary but it was my favourite job of all that I've had... simply walking around the CBD to deliver and get documents signed for ANZ Capital Markets. Casually strolling around the CBD, no rush, plenty of time for window shopping, then sitting at a desk in a high office block with a nice view and simply reading a novel while I waited for the next document to stroll around with. It was 6 weeks of pure, relaxing heaven... an ideal way to ease yourself into the workforce upon leaving year 12... I read so many books, including the 6-novel set of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Great times. Thanks Dad!... :-)
