Gino made an enormously valuable contribution to the sport of rugby league in the 1980s as honorary secretary of the University Cup Rugby League (now known as the Tertiary Rugby League). Gino's warm personality and administrative diligence were the major drivers of the success of this unique "grass roots" amateur rugby league competition.
