Whenever i think back to my teenage years the Golden Girls were a big part of my life and i still hear that catchy little tune,"Thank You For Being A Friend..." I still watch the Golden Girls online on Youtube all the time. I am going to miss your wise cracks and your sarcasticness, R.I.P Sofia(Estelle).

I just finished watching the Golden Girls on lifetime and learned at the end of the second episode that Estelle Getty passed away yesterday. It is hard to believe she is gone because she was so vibrant in her "golden" years and it seemed as though she would be around for many more years. No one could deliver a punchline like her or could engage an audience as she did. My prayers go out to her family as well as her "Golden Girls" family. She will always be remembered.

Estelle was my Favorite Golden Girl and my heart sank and a tear fell down my face as i heard the news a few min ago. The world has definitely lost a Golden Girl Our hearts and prayers go with Estelle and her family you will forever be Sophia in our hearts forever. My favorite memory of the Estelle is when Rose came home from an all night date with her significant other and nobody wanted to asked her how her Rose's date went and Sophia shot out with "So did ya play find the cannollii" i laughed so hard i cried!! Thank You Estelle for your laughter and sharing it with the world and for always making me laugh when i needed a good one . Rest in Peace Estelle we love you!

I just came to know about the news just like 5 mins ago :( damn :( I always watched her every episode/film along with my mom and brothers/sister, never missed a scene. From a very young age I always adored her, she was in my top favorite list of actors since like forever. Nowadays I am 23, gosh, I feel so sorry, such a talented / brave / wise person. Miss you Esty, our dear Golden Angel Your's truly Billy.J

I and my husband watched every Golden Girls show and rewatched the reruns - Estelle was the one we waited to see for her one liners - no one could deliver them the way she did - Thanks, Estelle, for giving us such a good laugh - you were really "Golden".

I am a 38 year old woman and a faithful wathcher of the Golden Girls, Mrs Estelle Getty aka "SOPHIE" was a superior actress and such a cutup of comeical jokes. The television will not be thesame without Sophie" . She will be greatly missed by all of the faithful Golden Girl watchers... RIP ESTELLE.

I own every episode of "The Golden Girls" on DVD, yet I find myself watching it on Lifetime when it's on. Sophia is a breath of fresh air. She never quit giving it her all. Whenever I need a pick me up, I just put on "the Golden Girls". I laugh so hard I cry sometimes. Because of "Estelle" I will never give up on my hopes of being an actress myself. She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.

I was born around the time Golden Girls started, but even so, I still watch the show regularly on Lifetime. Estelle was a phenominal actress and had one of the best comedic timings that I've ever seen on TV. Though she is gone, her spirit lives on. RIP Estelle Getty.

It just hurts to know my favorite Golden Girl is gone. I still watch the show faithfully and depend on the wisecracks, the wisdom, and the vitality of the Sophia character. Thank you, Estelle, for giving me some wisdom.

This a amazing little giant made us laugh and always had a big grin on her face. She had a no nonsense persona that is so rare in this plastic world. She could sing, dance, act and most of all, be refreshingly funny. I love the Golden Girls and she made it even more poignant and amusing. It's a great loss to the art world, but, even more so, to those of us who met her doing what she loved to do, making us laugh.

When I hear that Estelle Getty had passed away tears filled my eyes. I felt as if I had lost a personal friend even though I had never met her in person. She brought a ray of sunshine to a life that has not been without its problems as I am sure she did for many other people who have reached the so-called "Golden Years" and have outlived family and many of their friends. Would the survivng "Golden Girls" consider another episodic television series based on the theme that life begins at 80? They are so enormously talented and command the love and respect of so many people of all ages that such a program is virtually guaranteed success with the viewing public. Thanks Estelle and God Bless!

It is really sad to hear that Estelle has passed, that is like losing someone from your own family! She is that loved! We watch her every day on the Golden Girls and my girls always say she reminds them of their own grandma, we love you and thank you for all the laughs! Our hearts go out to her family and to the other ladies of the Golden Girls! She will be greatly missed and always in our hearts! We will continue to watch her every day!

With great sorrow I learned about your passing yesterday. I dreaded this day ever since I knew you were sick. Words can not tell how much I adored you. In my family I am the Sophia, and even using your words and phrases you were so famous for, they all know where they came from. It is you and the girls that brough so much joy and continuous laughter or tears in my life over the years. I know the road wasn't easy for you. As an exceptional lady that you were, I'm sure God has a special place for you in His Kingdom. May you rest in peace, you are missed terribly, forever! My sincere condoleances for your family and close friends.

An amazing woman. I think that everyone will always look back at her life and know how wonderful life and television CAN be. I have hours of Golden Girls on my TIVO and the greatest parts always include a witty comment or that insane "mad lady" laugh that Estelle portrayed so well. Estelle, you remind me to appreciate life and to never take anything too seriously. We love you dearly and will miss you with every inch of our hearts. We hope to see ya soon up there - We are right behind ya pussycat!

You are one with such a quick wit as well as a tender heart. Although I'm only 25 I started watching the Golden Girls reruns about 8 years ago and I immediately fell in love with your humor as well as your charm which required me to be home at a certain time not too miss G squared. You will be missed dearly. Always in my heart!

My heart goes out to the Getty Family on your loss. I watch the Golden Girls daily. Thank You Estelle for all the hours of pleasant memories and laughter. I know the last few years have not been good for you. Rest in Peace knowing your life has made a difference in so many lives. Thank You Lifetime for no cancelling the show. I know the story lines by heart and yet I still bust out laughing. I do not have a favorite as the entire cast is brilliant. There are few shows I can say this about.

I stopped watching the news in the evening or in the morning before I go to work, so I bought the series DVD's and record every episode per day on lifetime. 12:00am, 12:30am, 8am, 8:30am 12pm 12:30pm 3pm, 3:30pm. I watch them daily and probably know every line of every episode. She makes me laugh and I take that attitude to work with me daily and go to bed laughing every evening. I thank you Sophia for the times you picked me up when life would try to get me down. You will always be Golden to me and I will miss you dearly. "Picture this" - We know your at peace and in Heaven. My condolences to the family of Estelle Getty. I have been a huge fan of the Golden Girls since it aired in 1984. I can't go a day without watching my favorite girls. When I watch the show, I hope that if I ever reach the "golden years", that I have friends that are caring and supportive as these four women have been in television and in the real world. My heart goes out to Bea, Betty and Rue because when you lose a part of a family member, a part of you goes with that person. May God bless and I know that heaven will be having a good laugh with Estelle!

Golden Girls has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My friends and I love to watch and pretend we are the characters. Who knew that gay men would want to be golden girls? Although I always want to be Blanche, Sofia was integral to that show . I love how she would always call Dorothy ugly, Rose stupid, and Blanche a slut. She has warmed my heart and made my sides ache from laughing more times than I can count. RIP Estelle.

She reminded me of my own grandmother. Both full of life and hilarious, kind souls who cared about everyone around them. My grandma loved watching her on the Golden Girls, knowing full well that she was comparable in character. When my dear grandma passed away, I watched the show in a whole new light. I saw my own grandma more and more in Sophia. I feel like I've lost a grandma all over again. My deepest condolences to her family... but I have a feeling they'll be ok knowing they have such an amazing angel in heaven looking over them. RIP Estelle... you were something else.
