I put new flowers on Eddie's grave today and just starting smiling i could here him saying . I got you off that couch today, your out here in the hot sun for me Ha Ha Sis, I told you I could one day get you in that sun .....and he did finally, I would do it everday for you if only We could have you back, but we can't . At school I had to write a story about a special moment I will never forget.I wrote about me giving you the last hug from me and that my last hug the hardest I had ever hugged you.Here it is- "The Last Time I Hugged My Papa" The last time I hugged my Grandfather with all of my heart was a few days before he had passed away because of cancer.I hugged Papa hard because that was what he always did to me. Tomorrow is Eddie's 53rd Birhtday. I know he's looking down and saying ..."what a glorious day this is, it's my birthday and I get to spend it in Heaven with God". I know he is happy and I also know you are sad. But ,Eddie is where we all hope to be someday. My wish for all of his family and friends is that this day will be a day of celebration. Just the way I know Eddie would want it to be. I can't be there with you tomorrow , but at exactly 1pm I will be having a moment of silence in Eddie's honor. I know it's been 33yr since I've see any of you , but when I say I love you , I truly mean it. I can't tell you how many times I have though of all of you and all the love you showed to me . I thank you so much for your moment of silence, I know your heart was there, It was a real good day. All the ballons in the air was just breath takeing, the wind took them so high in air, Mom had a real big one, I read my poem, after that no one had anything to say , Mom told me i said everthing in that poem that could have been said. We had about 16 people there, I know Eddie loved it, i think he even might have caught mom's ballon, she told him to, and she belived he did.

Eddie's birthday is Tuesday , we are going to have a ballon party at is grave site, Everyone will release a ballon and mom will release the last ballon for his 53rd Birthday. I have wrote him a poem to read, and if anyone else wants to do anything feel free. We will meet about 1:00. If anyone would like to attend please let us know so we will have you a ballon. I really miss being able to pick up the phone to call and talk to my dad to hear his voice or just to hear him laugh... He had one of the biggest hearts that a person could possibly have... We have not always lived close by each other. But the time that I spent with him, I will always remember and cherish.. I love you Daddy, and you will always be missed....

That was a beautiful poem Nancy.

I first met Eddie Nichols in 1975 when he met and worked with my X-husband Charles. They both worked for a scrap iron company in Union City and became fast friends. Eddie used to come over and visit with Charlie, like so many of you have already said he could find a grin during many a circumstance. The thing about Eddie was that he had what I call a perpetual smile. When he smiled or laughed his whole face was joy. I used to think that his eyes twinkled like Santa Clause. lol I think that was what made him such a ladies man. All his single girls liked him. The last time I saw Eddie he came to our house in Palmetto and worked on a few cars for some of his friends. We grilled out that day and had a good time. I can't begin to tell you "family" how thrilled I was when I was told that Eddie found Jesus. (I used to pray for him back when he hung out with Charlie.) You see...as most of you well know this means that he has an eternal life. No more devastating cancer. No more pain. No more struggling to survive in this world. This world's system doesnt care whether you survive or keep what you acquire in this life. (Like the American Indians when someone dies, others just come and take what they want of their possessions and they move to the next camp.) But God knew when Eddie needed to come home. He made a provision so Eddie could live eternally. You ALL have the opportunity to stand beside Eddie again. Jesus said that He came to bring life everlasting. Hallelujah! Your (father, son, brother, uncle, friend)was not that being you looked upon each day. Who he really was was a spirit inside that vessel. He needed that earthen body in order to stay here. So what you laid to rest that day was his earthly remains. He left that body the very moment he took his last breath. Immediately transported to the gates of heaven. Where he was allowed to enter in with a voice that was heard to say " Well done, my good and faithful servant." So weep no more for what you perceive as a loss for I believe he now helps to light up heaven with that beautiful smile that he had for everyone around him. If I had known, I would have attended the service and funeral. Who knew that 6 days later I would be attending a service at the same funeral home. This was my brothers service. He passed April 20. I understand the grief you feel.. Remember to "Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and ALL these things will be added unto you." The best thing you can do for Eddie is to make sure that you will be ready so you can be with him again. For we know not what tommorrow brings. God Bless You All!! I speak blessings of joy and happiness to all members of his family. May you find comfort with the Holy Spirit and you grieve but a short time. Eddie would not want you to grieve long.

Cheryl I have never met you but my name is Wanda and I am David's wife. The message that you posted touched my heart and it's oh so true. I know that without a doubt David and I will see Eddie again. Thank you so much for those kind words that this family needs right now for all of our hearts are heavy. God needed another rose for his garden and so he picked Eddie and what a beautiful garden that must be.

one of my favorite memories with Papa Eddie is that he would always hug me as tight as he could whenever I saw him.He was the best Papa a girl could ever ask for.I will miss you very much Papa Eddie.

I remember one day, not long ago , eddie, mike, david and My dad sitting on the pourch laughing so hard, My mom walked out to see what was so funny, They all said Eddie stared it !!!! Am sure he did too, That was the way he was, alway the life of the party. God i miss him. Please oh please God take care of my big brother

I will miss Eddie very much. We were together for 8 years and knew each other for 17. He was a big part of my life. We had our ups and downs like everyone but I will remember all the ups. Eddie was a good person with a big,big heart. He was a super paw-paw and the kids loved him so much. You will always be with us in our heart Eddie.

One of my favorite memories of Eddie is with him and Kayla. I think she was like 5 or 6. Kayla use to like to cover these big velvet coloring pages. Well Eddie use to lay in the floor and color them with her. Well one day they were sitting in the floor and arguing over the colors. Then he started putting his finger were it was almost touching her arm and started saying "stop touching me stop touching" So Kayla started. It was so funny. Uncle Eddie has always liked children I guess it was because he was such a big kid his self. I will miss you Uncle Eddie.

I love paw-paw and I miss him and he loves me. Alex loves him too and paw-paw loves Alex. He was so funny. He make me laugh and he make Alex laugh.
