Doris was a legend. I can remember going to her place for a Christmas party when I was 7 years old with my Nana and Grandpa. She made me so welcome and special. I dont know where the years went after that but I do remember vividly when Doris , Gilbert and a friend, rocked up at the Forster/Tuncurry Caravan Park ,four days before I was getting married ., . I remember vividly, Chris and I were so sick the day before we were married. I still think, someone was out to poison us.!!!!! 18mths later they came to Mackay, with my Big Nana. I had my first son, and he was 6 weeks old. Doris was such a wonderful sister in law. She was so kind to my NANA. As years went by, they would catch up with us wherever we were. My boys just loved Doris. She was sooo much fun. I can still picture them dissapearing in the long grass. Doris first. Although you could always hear her! Doris and Gilbert came for two weeks at the motel we were running. At the time my mother-in law was with us. Gloria was always quiet until she met DORIS. Gloria had a wonderful two weeks. I suppose I never ever really knew Doris until then. She was a legend. I always kept in contact with her and Gilbert after this. Years down the track Chris and I stayed with them for a week. A lovely week. Last year I stayed with Doris for another night by myself. We talked and talked, and I think we both knew this would be the last time. All I can say, is I'm glad I was part of Doris's life. She was such a character who will be missed so much, but Im so glad she was part of my life. She was sooo loved.
