I must say I am at a lost for words. I never met the man personally but he had a great impact on my childhood; he and Bun. Me and my crew grew up listening to UGK while we would hustle until the wee hours of the morning. They was talking about then what rappers talk about now but it was much different coming from Bun and Pimp. There was no doubt in your mind that these guys had actually lived what they would rap about. We knew cause we was in the street every night since we was kids. Pimp was a O.G. He knew 95% of these rap niggas is fake and talk what they have heard from a friend or saw on a movie. However; nowadays all you have to do is watch BET and The Wire and take notes. I was only 14 when I first heard these cats and I fell in love with their music because at that time no one was talking about what really was happening in our neck of the woods or how we lived. Everybody was bee boxing and break dancing. That was never our stilo. We were getting money and UGK was the only group that was talking business at the time. I am 30 years old now and the game is long gone and behind me. It is no more. The game has become a way to fit in and is no longer a way of survival. Pimp and Bun told the story of what we did to survive in a time when it was not cool to dump! Pimp was a real gangsta and I will never forget the music he gave that got me through many cold and rainy days."
