We spent many hours with Ben growing up as part of our neighbourhood gang. So many of our best childhood memories include Ben, as we all roamed free and explored our little slice of the world. As the oldest in our group, Ben taught all of us many lessons. Our deepest sympathies on this great loss.

Many hours spent with Ben & all the other neighborhood kids roaming free, exploring, laughing and learning. He is a big part of many of the best memories of our childhoods. Ben taught all of us a lot as the oldest kid in our gang, and was someone we all looked up to. He will be remembered fondly. Our deepest condolences on this great loss.

I had met Ben only a few times, he was a very warm and friendly and I could easily tell that he was well liked by his friends and loved by his family. It is with sadness I learned of your passing and I pray for your family and friends during this diffcult time.

I remember the huge smile he had. I also remember how he use to take Adrian and myself under his wing (so to speak) when we went down to visit him at McGill or hang out with him and his friends when we were at Glebe. However I mostly remember him as being one of the best older brothers a guy could have. Loved forever.

Whether we were playing wall-ball on Pansy Avenue or dancing like maniacs at Bondi Beach, I was always glad that Ben was my friend. Much love and respect from all of the Couch family. ****zak****

The connection went beyond Oz. Years spent playing Sardines, "Steamboat" and Bristish Bulldog. Member of the Woodbine Place Gang. Taught me one of the first lessons I learned about being an older sibling. Be good to them, they hang around because they love you. Wise and caring. It's with a sad heart I send you these fond memories Adrian and family. Zoë

Ben was such a delightful guy. I remember skating with him on the frozen Rideau Canal here in Ottawa in the early 1980s, when Ben was about nine years old. During the years he lived in Ottawa, it was always a great pleasure to see and talk with Ben. Saw him last about ten years ago in Sydney while on a visit. We exchanged e-mails at New Years 2008. I miss Ben a great deal already. My thoughts are with Ben's extended family in Sydney, in Ireland, and here in Ottawa. Love, Graham

Ben was a such delightful guy. I remember skating with him on the frozen Rideau Canal here in Ottawa one winter in the early 1980s, when he was about nine years old. Over the years he lived in Ottawa before moving back to Australia, it was always a great pleasure to see and talk with Ben. Last saw him in Sydney about ten years ago, exchanged e-mails at New Years 2008. I very much miss Ben already. My thoughts are with the extended family in Sydney, in Ireland, and here in Ottawa. Ben - such a lovely guy with those gorgeous baby blue eyes and a cheeky smile. My love and thoughts go out to you all at this terribly sad time. With all our love from NZ, wish we could be there. Rachel, Chris, Finn & Pipi xxxx
