My family and I send our deepest sympathies to the families of these wonderful seven boys and to Wayne Lord ... as well as to all of the citizens of Bathurst who will be forever touched and scarred by this tragedy - especially the city's teachers, principal Colleen Ramsay, Mayor Stephen Brunet, and Superintendent John McLaughlin. I was raised in Bathurst and played basketball at Bathurst High School many years ago; to this day, some 30 years later, one of my fondest memories of my teen years were those basketball trips throughout the province - the boys and girls traveling together- singing and laughing - on the bus. To think that such an everyday joyous event could lead to such a horrific tragedy is simply beyond comprehension. My three teenage daughters - Vanessa, Hannah and Lilly - all basketball players - and my husband Derek and I send our prayers and sympathies on this saddest of days. Andrea Doucet (Ottawa)

On behalf of myself and my husband Bill, and son, Daniel (15), I'd like to send our sincerest condolences to the parents, siblings, family, teammates, and friends of the Boys In Red. And to the Coach and his family. Watching the funeral on CBC this afternoon, I cried, prayed and grieved along with you all. May God's blessing be with you all, and may time and love of family & friends help ease your pain. And I pray that knowing that your son is now an angel, who will watch over all of you, until you can be together again, will give you courage to go on. Very sincerely, The MacLellan Family Dartmouth, NS

To the parents, siblings, and friends of these 7 fine young men, my wife and I express our deepest sorrow. We understand how long of a journey this will be for you. We lost our daughter, Heather, in a car accident in 2002. She was 22 years old. Your 'normal in life' will no longer be the same. It will become a 'new normal'. You will remember your child each day. Try to remember 'good memories'. You do not need to worry that you will somehow forget things about your child. This will not happen as your child is very 'engraned' in your thoughts. As a family, grieve together and do not be concerned about any 'timeline' that might be put upon you. There is no timeline. Please know that there is a true caring for each of you. Take one day at a time and try to be at peace with yourself.. Take care, Love, Bob and Donna Miller Lethbridge, Alberta

R.I.P. Bathurst boys. i did not know any of these boys personal or mrs. Lord but my heart goes out to all the family, friends and the whole community. reading what the girl said about her little brother brought me to tears, me and my younger brother are best friends too and i can't imagine what i would do if something happened to him. our town lost four people in an accident in november and that hit the community really hard, so i can only imagine how losing 8 people at once, especailly 7 young men, how the community is feeling. it'll take time but slowly things with get a little easier. but the 7 boys will continue to live in all of your hearts and memories. again my heart goes out to all the family, friends, school mates, and the community, R.I.P. boys. the boys in red with live on
