Although I was one of a few im sure, who taught Barbara salsa, she was always such a lovely , funny and gorgeous person to be around. I had the pleasure and privelige to spend sessions having 'secret squirell salsa privates' with herself Jenny and have a ball just doing 'tricky feet' and moving our hips and generally just loveing going through all the finer points of hip shaking... Barb, i was so surprised and saddened to learn only today that you have left us, but i was strangely happy that you were in the middle of a cuban adventure!!! I am so so glad for that. I loved your attitude to dancing and just so dont ever reckon tricky feet would have been usefull in Cuba but I would love to know! ;) I hope the music is playing and your in an eternal state of having fun and being gorgeous.. lots and pots of love to you.. I did not know you personally, but I was good friends with your wonderful friend Jackie who spoke about you continually. I had the privilege of seeing photos of you and Jackie in some of your amazing adventures together and hearing some of the funny stories! You were obviously a great friend and treasure to Jackie, and you will both be very missed. My deepest condolences to your family and friends. Marlene.

Dearest Barb, One simple typo on a wedding booklet and you were never going to be just 'Barbara the bridesmaid' again. I had the greatest fortune to meet you as a judges associate over 20 years ago and you have been with me ever since. You are one of the best people ever and I cannot believe the hole that you have left. You are so very sorely missed Barabara...I have photos and video but nothing will replace you. Life is not the same any more. Love you mate.

You could not find a warmer, more genuine and loyal person than Barb. Ever smiling, with a wonderful sense of humour, I will miss you dearly (but our dear friend Tor will be happy to see you.) Thanks for all your law lecture notes, I couldn't have gotten through it without you. I will never forget our time together. Adrienne

As years go by in our jouney of life, people come & go. Yet, there are people who remain on our minds & in our hearts wherever they may be. I will never forget horseriding & having wonderful times in the Southern Highlands in the school holidays. You made holidays come alive with your genuine outlook to life. I have never forgotten those days & never will. God Bless Barbara. Peter

Every time we would meet to go dancing I remember walking towards her both of us grinning like we were sharing a secret. She was like that to dance with too. Barbara was a beautiful and playful dancer. After dancing Barbara would usually drop me home as I was (well, kind of) on her way. Those drives were part of the night. We would giggle about the salsa scene or our funny diets or the latest boardroom lingo she'd seen at work. Or anything. I felt like I could tell Barbara anything at all and she would listen with care. She wasn't afraid to pull me up on talking nonsense though that's for sure. Barbara was extraordinary and I feel so lucky to have known her for the short time I did. I will always love and admire her. Kieran

I was introduced to Right Said Fred and Ian Dury and the Blockheads in the early '90s. Such great fun and brought big, broad smiles to both our faces. Thank you Barbara. Rest in peace, Janine

Barbara, Barb - but best known as "petal" to me. A true loyal gorgeous warm friend. There's a big "petal-shaped" hole in my universe now. We used have a giggle when we hadn't seen eachother for a few weeks - we'd pretend we were puppies madly wagging our tails with joy. Ok - sounds silly, but that's the way we were. A true confidante of mine, irreplaceable. I can't imagine going to a salsa dance without you. My love is with you petal. Jenny

I remember well leading Barbara around the dance floor many a time at La Cita on a Thursday night when we were short of male dancers (which was almost every week!). She was always a joy to be with, ever cheerful and joyful. She will be missed by all those who came into contact with her through our common love of salsa dancing. Rest in peace Leonie
