I was very saddened to hear of Al’s passing. My memory of Al goes back about three years ago at a Scots 1st XV Rugby game when he shared with me his experience of playing hooker for the Scots 1st XV back in 1975. He told me that when he played rugby after school, he convinced others that he had never played hooker before so that he would not have to play in that position again - not surprising as it is a physically challenging and somewhat dangerous position. Al undoubtedly showed his courage by playing in that position while at Scots at the highest level. My sincere condolences go to Al’s family. Rest in peace Al. Hubert Delgorge
