created memory in Granny Freshia
We are blessed for the many years we shared with you.
Today we want to tell you about our grandmother and how we knew her.
It is about how she lived - Not what she gained, but what she gave.
She gave us everything she could, not only in material things but in care, a kind word,
a nod just to say “i understand”.
When we needed something, she shared with us what she had, even if it was too little to share.
She was a humble person, who walked among us never looking for glory or praise
She did not seek recognition for her kind and selfless ways.
She lived a life of deep commitment providing for those in need and near.
Steadfast with a quiet strength through times of loneliness, want and fears.
That was the person she was - the most selfless woman by far
Cucu was never judgemental, she looked at the weaknesses of others with compassion
Even in the stories she told, there were no villains, it was her innate kind nature
which inhibited her from imagining hatred even in tales.
In cucus house there was never gossip of other people, Sometimes she acted like
she had never heard a story, because she did not want to partake in the talking
ill of others.
Her constant warning to us was, "tigai kwaria maundu ma andu aria angi".
meaning - We should stop talking about other peoples
To us her house was the castle in the storm, a place of warmth, purity and sincerity,
It was the only place everyone could go to and not have a reason for the visit
Many people have spend their days there, gathering their thoughts..... Cucu never asked anyone when they would leave;
she just made more cups of tea and more food.
We have many fond memories of our times with her;
From teaching us how to read "Taifa Leo"
To the stories she read to us in the bible.
To the stories of her childhood with her sisters and brothers
To staying at our house when one of us was sick
These are all memories we will treasure forever.
Of your many granchildren - We feel priviledged to have spend the most
time with you.
So Grandma, as you look down below
We would like to thank you for being the summation of beatitudes.
For in your humbleness your life has inspired us and beyond.
That we have learnt we don't need to compete with others but with ourselves.
That before we point at others we should introspect on our own actions.
So today, as we mourn you we are sad but blessed for the many years we shared with you.
