Wilson Picket was an R&B, soul, and Rock and Roll singer. He began his career singing Gospel in Detroit with the Violinaires, and in church. He was known for his unique raw voice and will be best remembered for songs such as ‘Mustang Sally’ and “In The Midnight Hour”. His career peaked in the mid 1960’s and flourished into the early 1970’s.
In 1987 with his career all but over, he was convicted of carrying a loaded shotgun. This was followed by a string of convictions for assault, drunken driving and drug offences. Despite all his personal troubles he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He continued on as a popular song writer, and released his final album in 1999. He continued touring until his health failed in 2004.
