Will and I went to school together, I am devastated to hear of this sad news. I will always remember footy training and the Grand Final we won together at school. Before we went out onto the ground he said that "In games like these everyone has to put in 100%, anyone can can be the winning factor", and I have the feeling that was exactly how he lived his life.

I knew Will when he came to Riverview and was fortunate enough to be a boarder with him in the senior years. Unfortunately, in the hectic final HSC years, I couldn't say i was a close friend of Will's, but i definately couldn't find a bad word to say about him. Even though we weren't close, he had enough of an impact in that short time, that i am truly saddened to hear of his passing and feel compeled to write a message. Will was always one to have a smile on his face and always seemed to be laughing about something. (and looking at the photos, nothing seems to have changed!) I would like to say that his smile is what i remember most about Will but to be truthful i can't help but firstly remember him for his passion for (real) footy. He always seemed to be passing, kicking or just holding a Sherrin, and maybe thats why he was always smiling! For what its worth, even though i haven't seen Will for 15 years and i am saddened by this news...looking at him smiling in those photos makes me smile and feel good about the world. Will was someone always willing to have a chat. He didn't descriminate and was a friend to all. He didn't exclude anyone...he was a man of integrity...and in my eyes thats the bigggest compliment i can give anyone... The world is definately worse off for Will's passing. My thoughts go out to all his family. If his passing can sadden me after knowing him for such a short time, i can't start to imagine the pain you feel...but i hope you feel joy in the fact that Will lived a life such that even those who he met him in passing saw him as such a extraodinary individual. (I apologize for the late message but i only just heard of the trajic news through the Riverview old boys magazine.)

I'm deeply sorry for his family. First meeting: Will was coaching the Riverview under 11s (1998) and my son Tim was then in the opposing team - Pittwater Tigers -View won. 3 years later Tim played for View alongside Tim Ley. We met Will and hsi family on several occasions over four years. Last meeting: I ran into Will at Docklands in Melbourne on my way to a Swans game.

Just a top bloke to be around. Nothing was ever to much to ask. Will loved nothing more to help others. I'm was fortunate to have worked with Will for 2 years. Gunna miss the chats about the footy. To Fi and all the Leys: God Speed and may you kick on strong. I'm sure Will would have wanted us to have nothing but smiles on our faces every day - so let's remember Will and smile!

I had the honour to have Will as my colleague and first mentor at work. His friendly attitude, endless help, the relaxed and funny approach to everything and the joyful smile every morning will remain as great memories. May Will's soul rest in peace. My thoughts are with Will's family, be strong.

I will always remember Will joining us at Riverview. He was a good friend and a genuinely good person. The kind of person who did not say anything bad about anyone and that you could count on to always stand for what was right. We lost touch after school but I ran into him not too long ago, we spoke like it had been only a short time since we had seen each other. He seemed truly happy with his life and he mentioned his wife and family and it was obvious that they were the most important to him. He also seemed happy with his work. I will always remember Will as he was at school, and the example he set for us. I apreciate knowing Will and the time we spent growing up together. My thoughts are with his wife and family for this great loss.
