I had the good fortune of enjoying many moments with Tom. He was such a wonderful person and always made me feel welcome. He had an incredible knowledge of such a variety of subjects and always seemed to sweetly surprise me with how much he knew about where I’m from and my second language. I remember the day Andrew told me, while totally surprised, that he had found out that his father spoke fluent French. Tom loved speaking French and had such a beautiful accent! He sounded like a native Parisian true gentleman. I loved hearing his stories and see how his eyes lit up when he would speak about a ‘’little French diddy’’ that he remembered from somewhere along the way. I remember one day a few weeks ago, Andrew went into the shops to pick up a newspaper for Tom and left Tom and I in the car for a few minutes. When Andrew came back Tom and I were swaying and singing in sync in French to our heart’s content! We were unstoppable. And Tom and I had even burst into song practically the moment Andrew shut the door. (this was not our first sing-along) Tom started off by saying that he remembered a French ‘’little diddy’’ and would say the words and ask if I knew how the tune went. They were songs that I hadn’t heard since being in the land of the Francophone, and I was amazed to hear them so unexpectedly. He remembered all of the words, and had the patience to teach me the words that I didn’t remember. My memories of him will be filled with his kind gestures, his gentle heart, his sparkling eyes, his ability to deliver the sincerest and highest complement with only one word, his amazing cup of tea, his quick and subtle wit and his sharp mind. Tom was an amazing man, and I am so blessed for having him in my life, though it was far too short a time. I wish my father could have met Tom; they would have been so fond of each other. And they would have been a hoot to listen to! Tom, you will be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers forever. Merci pour tout les moments que vous avez me donner. On va toujours penser à vous. Je vais aussie toujours penser à vous pendant les petit diddies français! Comment c’était les bon moments pour moi. Sincèrement, Kimberley

It is a good thing that time is a light, because so much of life is mumbling shadows and the future is just silence and darkness. But time passes, times torch illuminates, it finds connections, it makes sense of confusion, it reveals the truth. You hardly know the oddness of life until you have lived a little. Then you get it. You are older, looking back. For a period you understand and can say, I see it all clearly. I remember everything....... You are paving the way for us all Dad, thanks for everything, forever in our thoughts Andrew
