Our rehearsal room for As You Like It at the Arts Centre was in a crazy space above a furniture store in Lichfield St, which still had murals of naked men on the walls from its previous tenants. Beginning rehearsal in that squalid space, we were suddenly stopped by the most delicious singing pouring in the windows. saemus was playing duplicate roles on the show, one of which was a singing shepherd, and he was practising in the dodgy alleyway downstairs. Once I heard that amazing voice, I knew the show was going to be a class act, no matter where we had to rehearse. Saemus was recognised an as amazing talent, at our high school (BHS), in Speech and Drama comps (sorry about the Jubille Cup- you were a lovely Romeo, but it was funny when the curtain shut with your leg on the outside), and, thankfully, in his professional life. I am so glad he was gaining the acclaim he deserved. Miss you always Saemus.

I heard you only twice. the first time in March 2004, at a concert in Auckland. I had taken my mother, who was herself to die only 8 months later. She was so impressed with Seamus' singing, as I was too, that she went up to you afterwards to congratulate you. Such great ability, and greater potential, lost tragically young. I feel such sorrow for your widow. Far too soon to be separated.

Seamus, It's such a tragedy to hear you've passed on. You and I worked together at Big Fresh Christchurch when we were at school. You were such a lovely chap, always friendly and cheerful, making everyone around you feel good. You took a genuine interest in people and were always so encouraging of everyone. You also befriended me despite my lack of social graces! I remember attending one of the interschool concerts and hearing your amazing solo. I also listened to your first radio show, 'Seamus the try-hard jock' - good listening! It's great to see that you were doing so well in your talents; it was well-deserved. What a tragedy to see you go. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

You probably never knew me but I remember you because you gave many great singing performances at Burnside High School in NZ. I went to a musical performance earlier tonight and it reminded me of you. So I got home and searched your name on the internet, thinking you are probably a successful singer by now. I am shocked to hear of your passing, and my thoughts go out to your loved ones. Ethan, from Sydney.

Seamus was my cricket captain when I first joined Burnside High School after immigrating to New Zealand in 1997. He was a wonderful, humorous guy with a great voice. I remember feeling homesick during those early days but playing cricket on Saturdays with Seamus and the boys really did ease the anxiety of integrating into a new society. I am really sad to hear about Seamus's passing, at such a young age. My thoughts go out to his family.

Seamus, I have only found out today and i feel so sad, we worked together at Virgin Mobile and there was never a dull moment when you were around, you did soo many funny things, one of those was your 5 second rule, and singing all the time. You were soo cool and im sure that your star is shining brighter than ever.

I worked with Seamus at MetLife and I am very sorry that it was for such a short time. He was such a vibrant personality (funky hat on a Friday) and achieved so much in the short time that he was with us. He is sorely missed. My thoughts go out to Laura and his family at this hard time.

You will be missed mate. Everytime we heard you singing out loud in the halls, you would make us laugh and smile with your growing tunes. RIP

I was one of Laura's bridesmaids just four months ago, and Laura and Seamus were the happiest couple anyone could imagine. Both of them absolutely glowed, and it was clear how in love they were. This is a tragic loss, and Seamus will be missed terribly.

I used to sing barbershop quartet with Seamus at high school. He would sing bass, and occassionally when he wanted to he used to drown out all the rest of us! In fact he used to drown out the whole male voice chorus! A lovely guy, I was shocked and saddened to hear of his death. I trust He is with the Lord now.

I was shocked to learn the death of Seamus Casey. I always remembered him as such an outgoing bright bubbly and very funny person. I went through school with Seamus, primary, intermediate and high school. My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. RIP xxx Karen

I worked with the brave and funny Seamus on a couple of operas and saw him ever positive, helpful and considerate. He lifted the mood of anything he was near. I also had the privilege of helping him with his voice in both Christchurch and Perth and so I got to see a very thoughtful and serious Seamus as well. He is a great loss.Requiescat in Pace,Seamus. My love and prayers to you Laura and to Brendan. Patrick.

Dear Seamus, What a tragic loss for all of us. I am so shocked and upset by your sudden departure. You were a gentleman in every sense of the word. A loyal friend and a generous soul. My love and best wishes go out to Laura and to your family in New Zealand. I will never forget you (or the amazing variety of ways which you managed to hold up your trousers with a piece of rope during Three Penny Opera in 2007! ) Love you so much and will miss you deeply.

I will always remember Seamus' happiness and infectious sense of fun turning everyone and everything around him to the postive. The special contribution he made to the Opera Factory Boheme gave us a real and touching Schaunard, with stage flair to rival anyone else in the role. I remember the hugs, the chocolate vodkas, the cans of tuna and the trips and falls and the laugh! RIP Seamus with love and thoughts to the Casey family and Laura.

Seamus is my soul mate and I have no idea what life is going to be like without him. It was never, ever something I imagined would happen to such a vital, loving and ALIVE person. We missed each other when we went to work, for goodness' sake. We didn't like spending even one night apart. now, we're apart indefinitely, and it's more than I can bear. It is wonderful, though, reading all the tributes to Seamus. So many people think so much of him, and I'm hearing stories I had never heard before.

I worked with Seamus at MetLife in Sydney, and although he was only with us for a very short time, the changes he instituted will be long lasting. Seamus helped to support the team I work in by keeping his team under control and he is the first person I have met who is more stringent than I am with grammar, apostrophe's and comma's. Seamus, if you could read this I would like to tell you that I am sorry that we were not able to get to know you better, I wish I had known you were an opera singer, I wish I had known you sang, I wish you could have had the opportunity to get to know all of us better too.

Seamus worked with me at Virgin Mobile for an unforgettable period of time. Seamus was an inspiration within our team and created such a strong and lasting impression on the whole company. There are many times i can recall Seamus singing in the bathroom-the accoustics were apparently great! He would bolt through the office and trip up-sprawling all over the ground-pick himself up in fits of laughter and keep running! Seamus was selected to jump up in one of our crazy company wide reviews, singing and sqawking-in a chicken suit no less! Needless to say he jumped at the opportunity! I spoke with him recently after a long time had passed-he was in such good spirits-i knew he hadnt changed a bit! Seamus was such a unique person with the rarest of qualities that genuinely made him one of a kind. His values, his personality, his disposition and outlook on life made him Seamus Casy-a one of a kind and one that cannot be replaced-the mould was broken after they made him-It is such a loss-but the heavens gained a special person. Rest in Peace Seamus-such a tragic loss. My thoughts are with Laura and his family and friends during this time.

I used to work with Seamus and the thing which always amazed me was how he was always smiling. I never saw him sad or mad, just smiling and singing. At night when he used to work on the checkouts at the store we worked at, you could hear him singing all the way around the shop. Seamus, you really were a shinning star, a talented person and a bloody good guy. I, along with so many others, will miss you and be forever greatful that we were touched by someone like you.
