William, Clem and Stella - thank you for welcoming us as friends. We are thinking of you too and sending our love. - Peter and Ruth.

I knew Sarah from working as an animator on one of her films, Way Of The Birds. She was a great boss, in a field not lacking in tyrants, bullies and dickheads. Her works of quiet beauty stood out from the pack and it was no surprise she went on to great things. I watched from the other side of the country when Look Both Ways swept everyone along and we spoke briefly on the phone. She hadn't changed, of course. Still warm and lovely and deadpan. My thoughts are with William and the kids, who I had the pleasure of meeting years ago. Sarah, they are perhaps your greatest works.

What a warm, inspiring and creative person Sarah was and it was a great privilege to have worked with her. She had a keen eye and a great sense of humour and brought that to her work and her colleagues. My most heartfelt sympathies to William, Clem and Stella.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been associated with Sarah's inspired, insightful, humurous and joyous feature films. Her capacity to illustrate the miraculous from the ordinary was truly a rare gift and her modest and respectful manner were a admirable in the egocentric world of cinema. Her work will stand the test of time and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and peers.

Thank you Sarah for your amazing talent and wonderful films - it was a pleasure and a privilege to be able to support you and your two superb features films. We have such lovely memories of you and your gorgeous family here in Adelaide for the 2009 AFF Opening Night where your second feature premiered to a packed and enthusiastic house - such a celebration of you and your truly unique approach to life and to art making. We're so sad you are gone - we'll miss you and send our thoughts and wishes to William Clem and Stella. From all of us at the Adelaide Film Festival

The first time I met Sarah, she drove me from our rehearsal to the production office. As we reached the office she realized she didn't have her swipe card to get through the gate. She pulled over to the side and we both decided that yes she would tailgate the next car that came through. She did it with this thrilled little girl squeal and then went on say that she had this image of the boom gate crashing down on the car and squashing us both. I'm not sure what we found so funny but my god we laughed. Sarah was a true artist and one of the most brilliant people I have ever met. Love to her family.

Sarah's art and filmmaking talent were an inspiration and a true joy to me. Her passing is a great loss yet I believe her spirit will always live on in her beautiful creative expressions and also in her children. I send William, Clem, Stella and their extended family heartfelt condolences during this time. My thoughts are with you all and I light a candle across the Pacific tonight in Sarah's memory. May it burn strong and bright to honour her memory

Sarah, you are a beautiful and passionate soul and your legacy will continue to shine like a bright star. Rest in peace sweetheart. Elisa Argenzio In one of the stars I shall be living In one of them I shall be laughing And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night And there is sweetness in the laughter of the stars And in the memories of those you love - The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint- Exupery

A filmmaker with subtle skill and great integrity who showed us ourselves. Who courageously shared her living with illness. Her films are amongst my favourites - the fridge magnet of Look Both Ways has been on my fridge since the film - a little sadder a memory today as Sarah's great gift of story-telling won't be on our screens. Thoughts and prayers with her family and many friends.

We had the honour of knowing and working with Sarah on Small Treasures, The Web and The Way of the Birds. She was full of passion and we always enjoyed her wicked sense of humour. She loved the small things and was generous in sharing her universal insights with a larger audience. Her contribution will live on, but it's a sad, sad day for those that knew her. Our love to her family, William, Clem Stella and Mary-Jean.

Hi William, Just want to express my love for Sarah and say how much an important part of my career she was. I have such fond memories of being near her and working with her on LBW. She had a way about her that made me laugh at the strangest things. I loved that experience so much and she had an ability to see the world and people in a way that was extremely funny, wicked and inspiring. She was so generous and kind to me. Sending my love to you and the girls. The world has lost an extremely gifted and beautiful soul but I'm left with memories I wouldn't trade for anything. Lots of love. Tony (Logan) Hayes

Sarah - you will be deeply missed. Your warm and generous face. Your unique brand of wit. Your eye for beauty in the mundane. Your deep intelligence. Your earthed spirit. I feel very lucky to have known you and worked with you. Life is so very precious, and when faced with death, we are forced to ponder 'the moments' of meaning. William, Clem and Stella - such a huge loss in your lives. Insurmountable. Courage to you. Hold each other tightly and scream loudly. Our thoughts are with you and our door always open. Daniela, Bruce, Archie and Florence.

Sarah was well-loved by all who met her and were inspired by her up here in the Territory. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She had such an amazing mind and a warm heart. She was intuitive, and she gave so much to other writers and artists. It's nice to know she was at home, surrounded by family, when she passed away. Much love to you, William, Clem and Stella.
