May your soul find peace sweetheart. I love you still with all my heart and I always will. We shared a special once in a lifetime bond, Rory always said that I was the 'Love of his life" and he told me often towards the end just how much he loved me. I was grateful to have been able to share the last 6 years of his life. Rory expressed to me that he had only 3 regrets in life. The first one was that he did not take care of himself better, he wanted to live a long and healthy life with me but he blamed no-one but himself for the cancer that took his life. The second was that he had not married me sooner; his voice was full of emotion when he recited his wedding vows and even though he was smiling at me he had tears rolling down his cheeks. And I was the one who wore the waterproof mascara because I thought I'd be the one to be overcome with emotion! He told me after the ceremony that he meant every word of the vows and could not believe how happy it made him to say them. His third and final regret was that he joined the Navy too late. He wished he had joined sooner so at least then he would have been able to go to sea. He couldn't wait to throw a line over the side of his designated boat and catch the fish that proved to be his unicorn - A blue or black marlin! When I asked him before he died why he picked me and why he loved me he replied 'you are the most easy going, uncomplicated, low maintenance woman I have ever been with, and you don't hit out at me or try to hurt me and you take care of me without complaint or expectng anything in return'. My response to him was a surprised 'but to me that is what true love is'. Many people shared his life and he was loved by an awful lot of people for his easy going, cheerful and friendly persona - it also got him into a bit of trouble on occasion!. I will always remember him as a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving, always quick with a joke guy who made me laugh - A LOT! Rory's final wish was for his ashes to be scattered at sea and this act was carried out by his closest friends and family at Coffs Harbour on Sunday 1st May 2011. It was a lovely day and Rory would have approved. Rest in peace sweetheart. I miss you. Love from your wife Jaimee-Lee

Honey I will always remember what Rory said to me on the Sunday before he passed. He told me that you were wonderful and how lucky he was to have you and how grateful he was that you were there to help and look after him. You two were great friends and had a bond and love that not many get the chance to have. He was a good guy and will be missed by many. Oh one last thing Bloody Jag Drivers :)

For many many fishing trips to come, every hookup will engender an image & gruff utterance inimitable to Rory. He's taken off on the biggest fishing trip of all and given the chance would rub it in that he's up first. Fond memories surface willingly. Sharing a fourby for something like 30 straight day and night hours dodging roadtrains heading to the "undiscovered country"of Borroloola. Then cruising through the mangroves on the McArthur chasing barra and dodging crocs and sharing a Tooheys Old at days end as the mosquito swarms descend. Launching a Tinnie off a cliff then dragging it through scrub to get to an isolated creek with Rory covered head to toe in mud like the rest of us but grinning like a cheshire cat. Tight lines, miss ya.
