Memories of Pops, well there is no way to say how much he has influenced me throughout my life and perhaps he did that in his own little way. I remember all the stories, long and short ( hardly ever short but always entertaining) that he used to tell Melissa and I when we passed by his house on the weekdays. I will never forget the wonderful man that was my grandfather and I know that his memory will live on in our memories of him, much like the stories which he used to tell us. We will miss you Pops, I will miss you.

I remember all those times me and my brother would walk up to his house after school for lunch. It was not that often but i cherished all the moments i had with him and all the advice he gave me over the years which was always helpful. I will miss his advice now.

Dad's motto - be your absolute best! He guided us both spiritually & mentally to believe in a life with meaning. He awakened a deep appreciation for the wonders and beauty of life in books and nature. Though age & his dearest one's passing softened him, obstacles still remained only mere challenges. Each day was truly well-lived, well-loved & well-served & we have still so much to learn from him!

After being away from Australia for many years it was a nice gesture for my Uncle Ron to meet me at the airport where we caught up on old times.

I remember growing up in what was fondly called "the Player household" and spending time with Dad on the weekends mowing the lawn (he loved to mow over Mum's plants in the lawn); going shopping for clothes etc. (Dad didn't believe in waiting for birthdays or Christmas if there was something he thought we needed but would take us shopping quietly & get it for us & not tell Mum); and best of all playing netball or cricket in the backyard & sending him over the fence to get the ball when it went into the next door neighbours yards, as they would give it to him & not us. I miss him & hope he is happy where he is.

I really enjoyed getting home fromt night shift at 2 am in the morning. The majority of the time would be up on his computer writing down his memories, poems or thoughts. These were the best times to have a good argument which we both enjoyed. Since i inherited the player stubborness these were quite enjoyable times! One of my favourite memories was Pop coming for a drive in my Nissan Silvia. It took him hours to get in the car because it was so low and i made sure to drive quite quick on one of the straights of our trip. I think he enjoyed that cause he never told me off!haha

I fondly remember many camping trips with my dad, most in the Australian outback. One I remember well was in the old red Falcon stationwagon to Lightning Ridge - the opal mining fields in northwest New South Wales. Dad didn't bother to take a tent. We just ran a tarpoline over the top of the car and down to the ground. We cooked outside on a gas stove. We slept on the ground. If it was cold or rainign, we slept in the back of the car. Boy could dad snore! But we had a lot of fun.
