Mum was a beautiful, independant, determined, loyal and strong soul. These traits were evident to me throughout her life, independant in the way she wanted to live her life, she didn't like having to ask for help. Loyal to all her friends and in particular her family strong throughout many of life's obstacles, none was more evident than the strength she mustered in this last week, when she defied doctors who said she had a maximum of two days to live, and held on for one week! They say, you can't choose your family, but after having my brother, mum was unable to have more children. Devastated by the thought of not being what she always dreamed of being, that is, a mother hen where she would spread her wings and all her little chicks would gather by her side, mum was determined to adopt a little girl. After some upsets, the universe brought her to me. She often said that when she met me it was love at first sight. The process of the adoption wasn't made easy for mum and there were many negative obstacles in her way but mum had a strength of character like no other and nothing was going to deter her from getting her little girl. And so our journey began. Growing up I have fond memories of mum sewing beautiful outfits for all my dolls and teaching me the value to care and take pride in the little things. As life unfolded mum and I shared many beautiful memories, shopping and lunches, overseas trips, coffee catch ups and lots of funny moments with all my children too. With mum I learned that there was no boundaries when it came to love and this was very true in the example that she showed me by loving me unconditionally as her daughter. Her final words to me were "You are MY daughter" and that I am mum, and proud to be so mum. Mum, I love you and I miss you. I am eternally grateful for your love and for making me feel YOURS...you have achieved this and I have a very deep sense of respect for the way you fought for me to be yours. Rest in peace mum and look after Daniel for me.

I dedicate this tribute to a beautiful woman, Rita Hernandez, who came into my life 11 years ago when her wonderful daughter and family became my neighbours and best friends. I had the privilege of attending many family celebrations and observe their closeness, love and respect embraced by all. Over the years I have admired Rita's love for her family, highly spirited nature, elegant & feminine appearance and disposition. I will miss having her as part of the Bietresato's gatherings but my memories of her, and her cheeky smile, will stay strong with me, my husband Steve and boys Isaac & Joseph. Love to you always Rita
