One of Piet's many high notes live and musically was at Oslo Jazz house in the nineties (recorded). He was a great bebop pianist in 2005 as well, mind you. The mid 80's was a difficult time for the bebop live scene in general, before it rose back again and gained popularity/vitality in the 90's. He may have had a bad night that night, but to say 1985 represented an end for P. Kuiters is misleading and simply not true.

I had the great pleasure to hear Piet Kuiters in the AMVJ in Laren (NH) in 1958 or 1959. At that moment he played like Bud Powell: swinging and clear ! For me he was the best Dutch piano player at that moment. As I had a small bottle of brandy in my pocket that day, I offered him a drink. He liked it for there were no alcoholic drinks in the AMVJ.
