Firstly my sympathy to the Ryan Family. I met and had conversations with Pat through Hockey Australia and FIH. He was always willing to listen and give advice when other committee members required guidance. He always had a smile on his and had a great memory for names. A distinguished gentleman that was a pleasure to know Robyn Pascoe - Hockey Family

I knew Patrick for 36 years. He was my father-in-law. Mostly, I found him to be a man of few words. His was quite and unassuming and a man of wisdom and conviction. He loved his family very much. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and he was lucky enough to see his first great grand child before he died. If there is a legacy that Pat has left behind it is one that speaks to us of love and responsibility for family. His made frequent trips to the UK to visit his nephews, neices and siblings over the years that I knew him and his last great 'trip' was to see his grand daughter Rebecca marry in Taree. As a tribute to him, please let us all carry on that legacy in own lives.

DEAR CHRIS, STEPH, MICHAEL & CORINNE and your families, Carol, Pat's sister and brothers and Dorothy, Our thoughts are with you as we remember and mourn your remarkable father., brother and friend. Pat played a large part in the younger years of most of the Chappell kids, in particular to Laura ( he was her Godfather) and in a special way to our son Michael who spent many idyllic weekends at Pat's place in Dural " buiding stuff , exploring the jungle and camping". Thanks to Patrick's kindness and patience with small people, Mike's stays at Pat's were the stuff of childhood dreams. Later on, when our beautiful Dawn was married to Pat, some of our grandchildren also shared the same memorable and happy times at their home. Pat and Dawn were both generous and gracious hosts who made people of all ages feel loved and welcome. Pat was not just a successful businessman, he was a resourceful, innovative and forward thinking person, a great participator and administrator for his beloved sport of hockey, a devoted father, loving husband and a long time loyal friend to us and our family. In recent years we saw less of Pat than we would have wished, but when we did get together, old age and illness taken into account on both sides, it was much like old times, relaxed and comfortable, creaking bones and poor hearing aside. True friendship survives separation and overcomes most day to day trials and tribulations. Even so, we are sad that we saw less of Pat in these past 2 years than before. He was blessed to have had his friend Carol in his life at this time, as she gave him a chance to go places where he may not have been able to go without her to see him safely there and back. She added an extra dimension to his quality of life and I know just how much it meant to him as he told me so the last time we saw him. As a newcomer knowing no one but those people who were business contacts, Tony will never forget that it was Pat who was the first person to offer his friendship on his arrival in Sydney . Pat was the only one of many business contacts who became a lifelong friend. As for me, I count Pat as one of my dearest friends. PG, we shall miss you sorely, but you have gone to a better place my dear.

I have acted as Patrick's accountant since 1973 and a finer human being (and client) I could not wish for. We enjoyed much more than a client accountant relationship and I shall miss Patrick and our chats about all manner of topics. I am fortunate to have had the time with Patrick during which we shared the ups and downs of busines life. His approach to business was exemplary and honest and it was always conducted with the utmost integrity. I am sure he left the above qualities with all his children and this legacy will live on and be remembered through them and his grand children. I wish the family all the best of health and a good life. Shalom and R.I.P George Lawrence
