In recent years we have had our own special brand of Kris Kringle at Christmas. We all contribute one gift and each gets to choose one from the large pile in the middle of the floor. However if you like what someone else has picked you may take it off that person who then has a chance to pick another gift. I've been browsing through my photos today and was laughing at the memory of mum being as feisty and scheming as my brothers to get what she wanted from the offerings! She didn't hesitate to pinch off anyone if they had what she wanted, even her beloved grandchildren! Another memory is of getting together as a family one time without the grandchildren and Mum wondering where they all were. When we explained it was just us her indignant response was " I 'm not interested in seeing all you lot, I'd much rather see the grandchildren!" ( She enjoyed the weekend though) How she loved all those 15! and we never doubted her love for us either.
