Lee Francine Ryves Lee Francine Ryves, the only daughter of Jeanne and Les, was born in Crown Street Women's Hospital, Sydney, NSW on 5th July 1949. She was. Christened in St Jude's Church of England Coogee where her father Les was in the choir Lee married David Alan Imlay, on 16th May 1970 St Anne's Church of England, Ryde, with the reception at her family home in Blaxland Road. Lee and David had three children: Michele Louise, born in Newcastle, NSW on 18th December 1976; Katrina Lee Francine, born in Newcastle, on 30th August 1979 and Peter David Alexander, born in North Sydney, Sydney, on 20th July 1987. Lee’s early years were spent at Mount Street, Clovelly, but when she was four the family moved to 310 Blaxland Road, Ryde, a north-western suburb of Sydney. Lee attended Ryde Primary School till 6th class and then went to Methodist Ladies College, Burwood - now known as MLC Burwood. Lee was among the first students educated under the Wyndham Scheme for schooling that was introduced in 1962 (six years in Primary School and six years in High School). She left school in Year 10, attending East Sydney's Technical College doing a secretarial course and art diploma. On graduation she took up a position at Kemwell Offset, a large printing firm in Jamison Street, Sydney. After her marriage to David the couple moved to 3 Buchanan Street, Hamilton, east of Newcastle, NSW. The house backed on to the Nursing Home where Lee’s grandfather was to live. They currently live at 116 Church Street, The Hill, Newcastle, NSW in a fine property with magnificent views overlooking the Hunter River and the Newcastle docks. Lee and David had bought a house, 3 Buchanan Street Hamilton, a few months prior to their marriage. The house, a free standing 1860 terrace on two blocks of land and in its original condition, needed a lot of work. They spent the next few years renovating the property. In the late 1980’s they had started pulling their renovations down and started restoring to the style of the 1860 terrace with one modern addition - an in ground pool - only to have the 1989 Earthquake completely destroy the 1860 part of the terrace. Eighteen months later they were reinstalled in their completely new "1860" terrace; the council inspector was amazed with the workmanship and originality, with modern additions like ensuite etc. David Imlay was born on 21st February 1948. David studied Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University. After gaining his Degree, he worked for John Lysaght and in 1976 started his own Engineering Business, firstly at their home and later in 29-31 Hudson Street, Hamilton a few blocks away from where David and Lee lived. In 1997, after a family holiday in Bali, Indonesia, Lee and David decided to build a holiday villa there. The project grew and finished as an 8 suite Boutique Hotel, in Ubud. The hotel, called Taman Sakti, was the place where family and friends had many happy holidays. 1999 Lee and David auctioned their Hamilton home of 29 years and purchased an historic home, "The Alcron", 116 Church Street, The Hill. This house was home to the first licensed restaurant in Newcastle. Following many years of neglect and a fire, it derelict for two years. Lee, David and their son, Peter, lived in a townhouse close by whilst they spent the next year rebuilding their new home. Lee completed a Diploma of Business majoring in Real Estate in 2000 and, in 2001, enrolled in Fine Arts Degree at Newcastle University. Lee died peacefully at home on 28th March 2011. Kevin was born on 8th January 1966. Michelle is a lawyer in Leichhardt, Sydney. Kevin is a prosecuting attorney for the Commonwealth Government. Stella Jean Michelle and Kevin have a daughter, Stella Jean, born in May 2009. Katrina Lee Francine Imlay Katrina Lee Francine Imlay, the second daughter of Lee and David, was born in Newcastle, NSW on 30th August 1979. Katrina married Divesh Kana in a Hindu ceremony in Newcastle on 15th April 2005. Divesh was born in Johannesburg, South Africa of Indian origin. Katrina and Divesh are both pharmacists and own two pharmacies. Katrina and Divesh have one daughter, Anjali, born in Newcastle on 29th July 2007. Anjali Kana Anjali Kana, the daughter of Katrina and Divesh, was born in Newcastle, NSW on 29th July 2007. Peter David Alexander Imlay Peter David Alexander Imlay, the third child and only son of Lee and David, was born in North Sydney, Sydney, NSW on 20th July 1987. Peter is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Chiropractic Science at Macquarie University in Sydney.

Christened in St Jude's Church of England Coogee where her father Les was in the choir Lee married David Alan Imlay, on 16th May 1970 St Anne's Church of England, Ryde, with the reception at her family home in Blaxland Road. Lee and David had three children: Michele Louise, born in Newcastle, NSW on 18th December 1976; Katrina Lee Francine, born in Newcastle, on 30th August 1979 and Peter David Alexander, born in North Sydney, Sydney, on 20th July 1987. Lee’s early years were spent at Mount Street, Clovelly, but when she was four the family moved to 310 Blaxland Road, Ryde, a north-western suburb of Sydney. Lee attended Ryde Primary School till 6th class and then went to Methodist Ladies College, Burwood - now known as MLC Burwood. Lee was among the first students educated under the Wyndham Scheme for schooling that was introduced in 1962 (six years in Primary School and six years in High School). She left school in Year 10, attending East Sydney's Technical College doing a secretarial course and art diploma. On graduation she took up a position at Kemwell Offset, a large printing firm in Jamison Street, Sydney. After her marriage to David the couple moved to 3 Buchanan Street, Hamilton, east of Newcastle, NSW. The house backed on to the Nursing Home where Lee’s grandfather was to live. They currently live at 116 Church Street, The Hill, Newcastle, NSW in a fine property with magnificent views overlooking the Hunter River and the Newcastle docks. Lee and David had bought a house, 3 Buchanan Street Hamilton, a few months prior to their marriage. The house, a free standing 1860 terrace on two blocks of land and in its original condition, needed a lot of work. They spent the next few years renovating the property. In the late 1980’s they had started pulling their renovations down and started restoring to the style of the 1860 terrace with one modern addition - an in ground pool - only to have the 1989 Earthquake completely destroy the 1860 part of the terrace. Eighteen months later they were reinstalled in their completely new "1860" terrace; the council inspector was amazed with the workmanship and originality, with modern additions like ensuite etc. David Imlay was born on 21st February 1948. David studied Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University. After gaining his Degree, he worked for John Lysaght and in 1976 started his own Engineering Business, firstly at their home and later in 29-31 Hudson Street, Hamilton a few blocks away from where David and Lee lived. In 1997, after a family holiday in Bali, Indonesia, Lee and David decided to build a holiday villa there. The project grew and finished as an 8 suite Boutique Hotel, in Ubud. The hotel, called Taman Sakti, was the place where family and friends had many happy holidays. 1999 Lee and David auctioned their Hamilton home of 29 years and purchased an historic home, "The Alcron", 116 Church Street, The Hill. This house was home to the first licensed restaurant in Newcastle. Following many years of neglect and a fire, it derelict for two years. Lee, David and their son, Peter, lived in a townhouse close by whilst they spent the next year rebuilding their new home. Buchanan Street Hamilton is my memory of Lee. Working together in the early days, I would sometimes go and stay when David was away. She worked from home and was always engaged in remodelling her house with boundless enthusiasm. Lee was an incredibly hard worker and a very skilled craftswoman and whatever she put her hand to, was done with precision. But above all this she was devoted to her family and worked tirelessly for their wellbeing. Lee was a very good person and I will miss her.
