Fortuitously, I had the privilege of sitting near Kurt at rehearsals and performances, when I was kindly accepted to play with Concordia Guitar and Mandolin Ensemble during 2010. What an enchanting experience! All the dedicated and talented musicians! Kurt, cutting an older but nonetheless elegant, figure. A quiet gentleman, at ease with classical music. Worthy of a Rembrandt painting. No doubt, now performing for a higher audience! Thank you, Kurt. I’ll miss you. Kindest regards to Joan.

How sad to realize from todays newspaper POLITIKEN that Kurt Jensen has passed away, yet after a long, beautiful and full life. - As a young girl, from my 20th to my 22nd year in the mid-1950'es, I took guitar-lessons from Kurt Jensen - he was already then a most respected, wellknown musician in Denmark - in his home in Freundsgade in Copenhagen. I remember I was hoping to someday be able to accompany myself on my beautiful Spanish guitar while singing small french ballads! Kurt Jensen was a really nice man and a great teacher with much patience, he was the first person in my life who managed to give me a bit of selfconfidence, and I've over the years in my mind often thanked him for that. A few years ago Kurt Jensen was mentioned in a Danish TV-program on DK4 Television, and afterwards I was able to comment and inform the producers about him. - Also I thereafter realized that one could still buy a few of his early records in Copenhagen, and even new Australian CD's with his mandolin orchestras, f.ex. Mandolin Christmas, which I ordered over the internet from Australia - it became very precious to me, and this last Christmas it was played once again for my children and grandchildren. I knew Kurt at 3MBS when he was in my training group, I think in 1990. We were undertaking a new training scheme where participants were awarded credits to ward a Certificate in Media through Holmesglen TAFE. Kurt was in his late 70s then. He managed all our tasks and assignments and was especially adept when it came to the new technology, at that stage Digital Audio Tape recording. Despite his world-wide fame as a mandolin player, there were no airs or graces, he was just one of us. We were delighted one day when he played with the Mandolin orchestra in the arboretum at Fern Tree Gully. He was a really nice man, notable on air for his soft Danish accent, and very special on the mandolin. - John Worcester, 3MBS.
