My memories of June go back to the early 1970s. The Swanton's home was magnificent in my mind, yet it was a famiy home. Who can forget that 'shag' pile carpet! June treated me like a son when I visited and was always thinking about others. I remember being there one day, and for some reason having to move the dining room table. I have no recollection of why the dining room table had to be moved, except that it did, and June was there in the background encouraging Greg and me as we did it, whatever it was? And what of those Saturday Night Meetings - kids everywhere, and June unflappable. I remember playing the grand piano, and admiring all the other instruments, violin, double bass, and a keyboard instrument belonging, I think, to Philip, a brother I did not know at that time. I did not meet him till more than 25 years later. June was a wonderful lady who with Howell raised wonderful children, many of whom I have had the privilege to know. June may be gone to her maker in Glory, but she has left a wonderful legacy behind. Vale June, thank you for the gracious guidance you gave me as a young man. with love, Alan

My wonderful friend June was always there for me, she was a great encourager in my life. From back in the time of Helen’s tennis group, June’s Bible study and then dropping in June and Howell’s for lunch. I’ll cherish times we spent together chatting or knitting together while enjoying many cups of tea and pieces of her endless supply of wonderful Christmas cake. Her warmth, practical advice and friendship have been of immeasurable value to me and I will always treasure the memories of the time we spent together.

As a teenager from the 'bush', being invited to visit the Swanton home in Ada Ave was a welcomed diversion from books and boarding school. As the centre of the household, June made everyone feel value and loved. Her great sense of humour (that twinkle of fun in her eyes!) and understanding no doubt stemmed from having to deal with that large family of males (oops; and a daughter!) she and Howell created and nurtured. I remember amongst the paraphenalia of a busy household, the grand piano and many other serious classical instruments there was a drum kit, a guitar, and always the latest Beatles album reflecting the eclectic and diverse culture of music which resonated throughout. But everywhere was June, quietly and efficiently running the household and being everyone's friend. She will be remembered!
