I loved my grandfather so much, he always put a smile on my face no matter what mood I was in, and always new how to cheer me up. I remember, when nan and pop lived in Conception Bay South, I'd call down to say hi, and there he was asking if I needed anything or needed a drive anywhere, god love him, because he knew I was going through a rough time, and he always wanted to help. He had such a kind heart, and loved to help people. I also remember all those times sleeping over when I was younger and waking up to a big breakfast just for me, and it was so delicious, I had to go back for seconds. I remember him down to goverment house grounds, building the grandchildren who where there all the time a swing set, he was so proud and we all loved it so much, but you couldn't go near the flowers because they were his pride and joy. I remember blackout 94 or 95 I do believe, the songs we were singing all night, "light and power, light and power, turn up the heat, light and power, light and power, before you freeze my feet" oh pop always new how to keep us laughing. All these and plently more memories will always be with me, I loved my pop, and miss him so much, he was a very special man and touched everyone he met in someway. You will never be forgotten poppy, I love you.

My husband and I remember Joe as a warm, gracious and outgoing gentleman. My special memory of him was from Chillie and Doug's wedding. He was so proud to be standing with Doug. After the ceremony, he turned to me with tears in his eyes and said," This isn't a church but those were the most beautiful vows I've ever heard." At the reception he danced up a storm and I believe he was the last person dancing when it was time to go. What a wonderful man!

Pop was, is and always will be my hero and my best friend. He always let each of us know how much he loved us, even the smallest gesture would be done with pure love, from a perfectly made cup of hot chocolate to a song, or a specially made craft. Pop and I used to spend hours together in the garden, he was so patient and thoughtful, teaching me the name of every flower. Anything I ever wanted to know about history or politics, soccer or cooking, he was always there to answer all of my questions. Pop was so creative, and put time and love into whatever he was making. He once helped me with a school project to build a castle...by the time he was finished it had a working drawbridge and royal crest...people turned their heads when I walked into school with it and I was proud as a peacock. I have so many beautiful memories, like picnics and sunday drives with perfectly made sandwiches, berry picking and baking...to just him always being someone i could count on....Pop words can't describe how much I love you and appreciate all those beautiful memories and all the love you gave me.

I am remebering on Dec 30th, Dads B-day and we all went into the home with a birthday cake and he was always on schedule for his meals, so at this time it was supper time, he went in the luch room and sat down to eat his supper and we followed him witht this wonderful birthday cake with one candle on it. So we brought the cake over to him and we all starting singing happy Birthday to him he looked up at us and said, Im 76 blew out the candle and went back eating his supper. It was a funny, and so innocent. Even through Dads sickness he still made me laugh. Love you Dad always

When Burger King opened in St. John's, I was in grade 2 and dad came up to school one lunch time and we ate lunch in his car. I was so happy because he just bought me a hamburger and fries from Burger King, but it came in a tupperware container. It took me a few years before I figured out that burger king food didn't come in tupperware containers. He always wanted to make me happy and he succeeded everytime. Love you Dad

"Where have all the flowers gone? Long time passing. Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago.... We won't ever forget Joe playing and singing, he came up to the house often to have a 'tune'; my own guitar never got such a work out! Marie and family: God bless you all as you mourn the loss of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, Man
