I will always remember John for his love of his family and the way that he welcomed me into that family when I met his son Simon. He was devoted, loyal and lovely and he was the best Grandpa in the world. He turned up to many games of Soccer & Cricket when William was playing and cheered Jessie on in softball on many occassions. He was always there for us no matter when or where. He came to sit with me when my car broke down one day when I was scared in the dark with the children. He was always there at the end of the phone and would always be there if we needed him. He always offered me a nice glass of wine and got kranky with me for enjoying my steak "ruined". What a man he was and I will miss him so very much, as will we all. May he Rest In Peace in the knowledge that he will always be remembered for the great man that he was. xxxxxx Linda Skene Daughter In Law & Friend

I first met John in 1989 or 1990. I was working for a company called QVF, and John's company represented QVF in Australia. Over the next five years, I visited Australia on business seven or eight times, and on many of those visits I met up with John. He always prided himself on looking after his visitors from QVF, and I must say I certainly enjoyed his hospitality. Later, whenever he and Elsie came to the UK on business or on holiday, we would meet up. For some reason, many of my memories of times with John involve good food and fine red Australian wine. John, Elsie and I had a memorable meal overlooking Sydney Harbour, and another time one in Paramatta where a magician performed at our table. I remember a barbecue at John's home, where I first saw how much John loved fried onions, and being amazed at the quantity of them he could put away. On another trip, we had spent the morning visiting a client at Botany Bay. When we had finished, he asked what I would like to do. Knowing he was busy, I said just drop me at my hotel in Sydney. But John would not have that, I was his guest. Have you ever seen the Blue Mountains? he asked. And so I John and I spent a fantastic afternoon there. I always found John to be a true gentlemen, generous and kind. I am going to miss him. Rob Hughes Eccleshall England
