i have lots of memories of Jess.. one night in vidor we had a cpr and worked it completely in the dark and fighting off little dogs running around. when we got the guy loaded into the truck, we both had so much dog hair on us, we could've made another whole dog!!! gross! we got the guy back too! i miss her coming over to the house and calling me about her calls she had the day before. Jess was a great person and a great friend. She was an excellent medic even though she second guessed herself all the time. i luv ya girl....

I think it was the last night half we worked together. I worked a 24 the day before, then picked up the second half of her shift the next day. I'd had to switch days because of school. She was going to try to get Derry to switch days so we could stay partners both days, but then the Beaumont thing came up. We were texting that morning like usual and I said something that really made her mad. I wasn't sure what it was that I had said to set her off, but she was definitely mad. I went back to the station after class to take a nap and she was still really, really mad. Apparently, I had hit a nerve about losing friends when you change jobs. She didn't speak to me until our first call that night. We were on the way to the hospital when I leaned up to the front to make fun of the student for putting our patient on the monitor (he cut his fingers) and it seemed to break the ice. There were two bedrooms at that station. Our first shift out there we were in separate rooms, but it got annoying trying to carry on a conversation from across the hallway so I started sleeping in the same room. Right before she was quitting, they were getting the station ready for the new helicopter crew. They had taken the room we were used to sleeping in and were setting it up for the new crew and we weren't supposed to sleep in there anymore. We both had a weird issue about sleeping in the same room with people we didn't know, and that student was WEIRD. We decided to pull the mattresses off the beds in the room we used to sleep in and put them next to each other on the floor. We had a really good, really long talk that night. At one point, we could hear a car pull up next to the bedroom and people outside. Both being retards, we thought it was the boss man come to check on something and were convinced we were gonna be in trouble. We grabbed our bedding off the mattresses and started throwing the mattresses back on the bunk bed. We couldn't get the mattress on the bottom bunk right for some reason. I was crouched down trying to move it into the right spot and turned just in time to have Jessica's butt in my face. Thank God she didn't have gas at the moment! We grabbed all of our stuff and went running into the other room, laughing the whole time. That's when we realized it was just Derry and Corey, coming back from the airport from the PHI training. I guess the names Beavis and Butthead really were appropriate...couple of retards!

Jessica always loved Colorado. We spent our anniversary in Denver then to Colorado Springs then to Durango then to Silverton. She wanted to play in the snow so we decided to take a trip to Pike's Peak. Unfortunately, the police were not allowing anyone up to the top, so we got out and played in the little bit of snow that was on the side of the road. It was kind of sad in a way, but she really made the best out of it. We made a little snow man and wrote "Happy Anniversary" in the snow. I will never forget it.

While living in our apartment in Las Colinas, Jessica wanted to make lasagna for dinner one night. She purchased all of the necessary ingredients as she was not going to use anything out of a box or can. I mean she even got Italian sausage from a butcher in natural casing. All said and done, it took her over 8 hours to prepare and make (6 minutes to eat) what turned out to be the best lasagna I have ever had even to this day. She never cooked it again, but I will never forget how hard she worked and how much she wanted us to enjoy something she cooked from scratch.

When I was in the last week of Basic Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, we were allowed visitors to accompany us during Sunday's morning church service. When needing to travel to anywhere on base, Trainees had to march. You can't stop, you can't take a break, you can't deviate from your path...you must march perfectly for fear of an assortment of punishment. When I was marching to the chapel I had to stop before crossing the street because a car was proceeding through the intersection. I hadn't seen Jessica in 6 weeks and there she was in the car. It was a serendipitous moment. I fell completely apart inside. I so longed to see her and the moment I did, I could do nothing but march and march on I did. Granted, I practically ran to the chapel, but I couldn't wait to breathe the same air as her.

I relieved her for 6-8 months, and she slept with the narcotic keys. I go in to the dorm in the morning, wake her, aske her if she needed to go home or if she wanted to sleep, then ask for the narcotic keys. She started to leave the narcotic keys for me, so that I would not have to wake her, but then, started sleeping with the pager. SO, it defeated the purpose!

I'm sitting in my car on my blackberry in Galveston, remembering the day Jessica decided to take Evan and Aly to Galveston by herself. What she didn't know before she got down here was that it was Kappa weekend! lol Kinda like the day we went to Louisiana for those Christmas fireworks. She decided she knew a short cut back to the car. I was pretty sure it wasn't the right way, but I didn't want to argue so I just kept walking. And walking. And walking. Two white as white can be girls and two kids wandering aimlessly through the ghetto for two hours...my feet were beat all to hell by the time we found the car, but I wouldn't trade that memory for anything.

when jessica first came to ESD i would keep the incharge keys from her and tell her this was my truck and these were her patients. This would happen almost every shift i rode with her. This is funny to me because when she first came here to esd i was a basic and i could not believe an incharge would let me hold the incharge keys(lol). We had a call on day and it was psychiatric call....i handed her the keys and told her to go draw up the drugs then call the supervisor for permission to use the drugs....she asked why...i stated if you already have them drawn up they will not tell you to waist them. That was one of the most memorable times i had with Jessica....JESSICA YOU WILL BE VERY AND DEEPLY MISSED

The funniest memory I have of Jessica, is when she first starting working for ESD. I was one of her first partners. She didn't know the district well, so we'd start going on a call, then she'd tell me to pull over cause she was lost. She'd find her way, then we'd start going again.... then she'd get lost again so I'd have to pull over so she could find her way. Then we'd take the longest way possible to get there, cause she was unsure! It was funny....

"Sorry, I gotta poot!" When we first started working together out at 94, Jessica got to see my inevitable reaction to the smell of rancid, horrible gas...but it wasn't hers lol We were dropping a patient off at LBJ, walking down the hall past a bunch of stretchers when the smell hit me. I was sweating and gagging and ended up sprinting down the hall. Jessica was laughing her little ass off at how bad I reacted...but she respected my weakness lol She always warned me when it was a bad one lol I will never forget driving down the road all those times and seeing that lean and the window going down!
