I would like to thank all of the friends and family who attended the first celebration of my mother's life. The event was perfect. The kids had a blast and the generosity by the families would have humbled my mother. Thank you all for making the day better then I could have imagined. We took 80 + gifts to the peds ward on Mother's Day. Seeing the grandkids all taking part in filling the shelves with the toys made me feel so proud of my family and the hearts of the next generation. Nana's heart lives on. Thank you all, Ken Sanchez

My year of magical thinking is up and I have to come to grips with reality. What is reality? You are physically not here with us but I know you have not left us. I see you in every butterfly I see. I see you in all these kids faces. I talk to you everyday and I know you hear me. I feel your presence especially when I am struggling. I hear you whisper in my ear. When I start to stumble I feel you hold me up. I hear you answer when I ask you to guide me, I feel you gently point me in the right direction. There is not one memory I want to share but an infinite number of memories and that number is still growing even though you are not physically here. I want to share this feeling of certainty and assurance I have because I know you have not left us but instead you are waiting for us. Thank you mom for staying and please keep visiting us. We will never stop wanting to hold you but just knowing you are still here for us will sustain us until we are with you again. I Love you Mom. Don’t worry, I am ok with people thinking I a little crazy. I have never been one to worry about that. As for reality I think it is over rated. Your daughter, Sonya P.S. We love you the whole world.

My youngest daughter's birthday is approaching this month and when I sit to remember the day my family was blessed to have her come into our world, my Aunt Jenny's hope and love still feels stronger than ever. When Lauren came into the world 2 years ago, she needed a little extra TLC to get herself going....fortunately modern medicine allowed her recover to be, however modern medicine didn't fill the whole I had in my heart leaving her at the hospital and returning home without her in my arms. During her hospital stay, many family members offered support and love during the difficult time, especially Aunt Jenny. I remember her sitting next to me and Lauren in her incubator (tubes and monitor's all over the baby's body)....Aunt Jenny stayed with me for a long time and she kept telling me that Lauren looked strong and beautiful and she would be out of the hospital and home soon.....her loving words were needed during this time and her hope and confidence that everything was going to be okay was like a beam of warmth light on my loom and gloom days at the hospital. As Lauren turns 2 this month, I will remember those days with my Aunt Jenny at the hospital and her gift she gave to me and continues to give to me. Thank you Aunt Jenny! I love you and miss you! Keep Laughing!

Her laugh.......Her voice........Her smile.........Her flip flops........Her t-shirts........Always knowing who she was and what she stood for.......... Her confidence........Dancing to 50's music with her sister Helen at a family party.........Her telling her brother Richard to relax.........Her saying, "If you act like a ____ you're going to get treated like one." (By the way- not about me.)........Her out spoken personality (My personal favorite)..........These are just a few of my memories I have about my Aunt Jenny. I feel blessed to have known Aunt Jenny and to be part of her family. Butterflies have a new meaning for me....... Thank you Aunt Jenny for including me in on that. I think of you often and at times see glimpses of you simply by looking in the mirror. MISS YOU- LOVE YOU- KNOW I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN. Monica

My memory of my Auntie Jenny was her amazing laugh. When we were at family gatherings and I would hear her laugh it would always make me smile and I would feel such pure joy of happiness from her. Happy Birthday Auntie Jenny. I loved your laugh and I love how it still makes me feel. Liz

My Aunt Jenny was somone who was loving, caring, compassionate and who loved her family very much. One of my memories with my Auntie Jenny was when she lived up the street from us. When I was a little girl, I would go up and visit her and we would play board/card games . . . and of course that meant I would take her away from playing her Solitaire game! When we were done, she would always offer up her homemade tortillas with butter! You could never have just one . . . they were too good : ) Another one my memories of my Auntie Jenny was that she taught me how to play softball. I know I was never as good as her daughter Sonya who got to play catcher . . . but she did have self pitty on me (being that I was her niece and I was also one who was afraid of getting hit by the ball) she did allow me to play outfield. Thank you Auntie Jenny. My Auntie Jenny was one person whom I could say I knew to be true to herself and her family. She never tried to be someone she was not and did not pass judgment on others. She would always have something positive to say no matter how negative things were . . . she would look on the bright side of any situation. She always had a wonderful smile about her that would light up a room because it was genuine and heartfelt. I will miss you always Auntie Jenny but knowing you are with our loving father I know your happiness will live on forever! Happy Birthday and I love you. Your Niece Annette

One of my most earliest memories of my Aunt Jenny was one that has always stuck with me through the years. It was a day at Grandma's house and she was cleaning up and I must have been less than 3-4 years old??? and I asked her why she was cleaning and cleaning and cleaning and in my opinion, she had cleaned well enough....she turned and looked at me with her sparkly beautiful eyes and told me "If you are going to do something, do it the right way and with pride the first time, that way you don't have to worry about it later." Well at the time, I didn't understand the COMPLETE message (other than she wanted the house be REALLY clean (hehee)) however somehow her message returned to me many times throughout my years. I suspect she was intentionally trying to give me a life lesson, because it worked!

Nana will forever be in my heart. No matter what I did she always had my back. We went yard salling together. I used to live with her as well. She was so fun. When I was three I would stand on her back and rumb it. Ever since she died nothing has been the same. Not Christmas or Thansgiving. Did I say I Iived with her four 3 years? Thats why I love her so much and more. We all miss her so much!!!! Allyssia -9 yrs old

Jenny gave all of us the greatest memories. I will always remember when she would let all us girls stay the night with Renee and she would allow us to stay up as long as we wanted and she would let us go play true or dare that would include the cemetery. The best memory was when she drove us girls to toilet paper houses. Jenny was a very good friend to have the very best listener. I do want to share my THANKS TO JENNY for all the times she stepped in to help us girls no matter what it was for. Love you very much jenny and again thanks for being a friend.

Jenny was so wonderful. I was thrilled that she would share her tamale recipe with me! But I'm sad now when I think of Ken telling her that he was saving the first dance for her, when they both recovered from their heart surgeries... and that dance never happened. (At least, not on Earth. : )

The last time my mom was in the hospital I decided to stay home and help her with the kids. So every Friday I would call her to see if she wanted to go look for yard sales. So we would load up Mariah, Anthony, KJ, and Braden. The kids would be so happy because they know as long as Nana was there they would get a toy are two. We would always call Sonya and Erika to rub it in that we were out looking for yard sales. After we were done we would go eat and the first thing we would tell the kids was don’t tell anyone we went to eat, that was the first thing they would say. Nana would say not me man. My mother loved to go see the kids games she was so proud of them. She loved to cheer them on she was the loudest one in the stands, know matter how sick she was she never missed a game. When Tiffany and Destine were pitching she would bring her k sign that she would get from the d-back game and every strike out the girl would get she would put a k on the fence for them. She would go with me to Vinny football game she loved see him play. If he got hurt she would say you better go check on him, I would go and then Vinny would get mad. Her and my dad would go to Mariah dance recitals and at the end they would give Mariah bouquet of flower. She was only 4 years old but she love walking out with them in her hands. My mom loved to cook for her family . When we moved to Showlow Jason so missed my mom tortillas so my mom showed him how to make them. They were not Nana tortillas but they were as close we were going to get. I Thank God everyday for giving us such a wonderful and loving Mother. We were all blessed to have her in our life . We could not ask for a better friend, mother, wife, daughter, aunt ,nina, and Nana.

I am going to miss my Nana singing Sana Sana Sana to me when I hurt myself. When I cried she was always there to wipe my tears and make me feel better. When we were little she made up a game called steamroller. My mom didn’t like that game and said we were playing too rough. Nana would stop playing until my mom would leave the room then we would start again. We laughed so hard mom would hear us and know we were playing again. Mom would yell and tell us to stop and we would crack up laughing. When I was in the hospital my nana would get up really early to come stay with me because mom and dad had to go to work and she didn’t want me to wake up alone. I am so happy she did that for me. When we played sports or took part in any activity she was always found a way to be there for us. I loved to hear her cheer for us. When we won the Championship she was there and so proud of us. I will always think of my Nana every time I see a butterfly. I see them a lot because I know she is watching over me. Raymond

Some of my Favorite Memories My favorite memories are all about how my mom was adventurous and open-minded enough to try new things with us. We loved to laugh together and just talk. We loved to get in the car and drive until we saw something that caught our eye like the Natural Bridge. She walked down that 11/2 mile trail with us and sat next to the cool water. She said that was one of the prettiest views she had ever experienced. She started laughing when we said it was time to go. She said, "Steve is going to have to carry me back up the mountain on his back." The time we went to Sedona and she caught a fish. She screamed like a little girl we all laughed so hard. She said, "it's going to pull me in." Then Destini caught a really big one and Steve put Mom's fish into the mouth of Destini's fish and my mom realized she had not caught an orca but a sardine. When we went half way across the country to watch Destini play softball. I'll never forget the look on her face when we saw Ruby Falls. It is a 145 ft. water fall in a mountain. She looked up in amazement like she had seen something spiritual. The wind blew her hair back and she just smiled the most serene peaceful smile I had ever seen on her face. She hiked again to get to that too. While we were hiking back up she told the church people to stop sucking up her air. It was hilarious. She was brave and took Steve to church and she told me he was one step closer to God than I was. Her sitting on my couch watching John Edwards and saying "I believe what he is saying and I am looking for Grandpa's signs." I said "I am open-minded but I'm not sure." She said "I will definitely give you guys signs when I leave" and she has. I am no longer unsure I am convinced, I definitely believe. Thank God for this year of magical thinking. ____

My Nana, she supported us in everything we did like football. My mom thought is was something that we were going to get hurt doing but she said “they have to grow up let them try.” Nana always told us that we could do anything we wanted to do. I can hear saying “all you have to do is try.” I loved to watch her do the crossword puzzles she never gave up. Nana was always there for us. Like the time when Ray was in the hospital and we had to stay with her. No matter what we needed she found a way to help us. She made us feel so special and loved. I am going to miss watching her lie on the couch watching the Price is Right and laughing with her about how Bob would kiss the pretty girls. Even when she was sick she wanted to play with us. She would lay there and when we would walk by her she would grab us tickle, kiss and hug us. This even happened when we thought we were to old for that stuff. I’m glad she never thought we were too old for that. We got so many hugs and kisses. I Love my Nana and she will always be in my heart, Steven

My nana is my queen and she always told me I was her princess. She loved me very much. I loved her even more. My nana taught me so many things I can’t tell you everything but if I didn’t have my Nana I wouldn’t be getting good grades. She taught me how to write in cursive. I loved to play Pac Man with my Nana. We would have Pac Man competitions at her house. The only thing was I would get my turn and never get to the second level with out being eaten and Nana would get to the tenth level and still have only used one life. Not fair, she was great at Pac Man. No one could stop her. One of my favorite memories is when Nana went with us to the park. We went to feed the ducks. One of the ducks pecked me on the finger and it hurt really bad. My Nana chased the duck away and kissed my finger. She always knew how to make me feel better. I love my Nana the whole world, Jenika

We were playing with the cars. There is a little car and a fire truck and a muffin car. Nana didn't get on the cars. She let me play pac-man. Nana took me to Dr. Sunshine. We got candy and a stamp on my hand. Nana took me to yard sales. And she let me play with a big dinosaur. Now Nana is an angel and when it is windy she is drying her hair. When it is raining she is watering her flowers and when it thunders Nana is bowling (her favorite thing to do).
