My memory of Irvin Rockman is through his extra-ordinary book "Underwater Australia" & the late Henri Bource. Henri often used to speak of him & the friendship they enjoyed. The late Billy Thorpe referred to him in glowing terms & my one regret is that I never had the opportunity to meet him & shake his hand.. Greg Lynch / Melbourne Australia

Irv and I had a great love of photography together. We were going to do a Rockman & Rockman photographic exhibition that never eventuated unfortunately. We also had a cousin in Israel Giora Rockman who was a genius with a camera, he died in his twenties in a car accident on the way to a photographic assignment. I miss Irv every day, can't believe that in a couple of weeks it will be two years since he left this world. R I P Cuz. Rock

I met Irving in 1998 while diving on the Febrina in PNG, and dived with him for 10 days, and we kept in touch over the last 12 years, and he was a great man and friend. We will all miss him greatly. I also was on the same dive trip as Joel Penland. What a great time we had and many super dives. I live in the Seattle - Washington area of the USA, and did not find out that he passed away until 2/25/2011. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends Tim Novotny - Washington State USA

I was very saddened to hear about Irvin. Irvin was a great man and a lover of life. We shared a common interest and love of the sea. I had the honor to join him on a few dive charters in PNG. Irvin was a real underwater photographer. The first thought that always came to my mind when thinking of diving and underwater photography was “when am I going to make it to PNG again to dive with Irvin”. A big regret now is missing an opportunity. I am thankful that I had the chance to know Irvin. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Joel Penland / South Carolina USA
