Innes was a man who loved his family & enjoyed nothing more than to have everybody around him. For many years we had lunch with him on Sundays; either at his house [often a stirfry ] or at El-Rancho. In more recent years, he had dinner with us once a week at our house. I was always amused at his insistence that he wasn't hungry & wouldn't eat much & then polish off a whole big plate of Atlantic Salmon & roast potato. He loved his desserts, especially anything with lots of cream. His favourite requests were black forest cake, creme caramel, pavlova and cream puffs. He loved his garden, especially orchids, conifers & water lilies. He had a lovely big rhododendron and always used to give me flowers from it. In my garden now I have Louisiana Iris, Hippeastrum & Chinese Ground Orchids from him. He told us many stories from his childhood at Glen Innes, his time in Japan in the 1940's, his early married life in Lismore & his trip to China. He loved oriental art & fantail fish will always remind me of him. His siblings were very dear to him and he regularly visited them. He loved to play the violin & I regret now that we never took a video of him playing. He was a kind & generous man, always quick to offer help if we were ever in need. He loved his grandchildren & delighted in their sucesses. He could never let the opportunity to tell a joke pass by... He will be missed by us all.

Listening to Dad recount all the funny stories from our childhood. Strolling through his garden with him. Sharing his delight at a new orchid flower. Never going home without a flower from his garden. Sitting on the verandah and feeding the birds. Listening to music with Dad. Fish and chips at Carlingford Court. Buying bananas and nectarines. Trying to use his Senior's card to buy bread. Admiring his treasures from China. Boasting about the grandchildren with such fondness. Missing Carole. Many memories. Fun with Jed and Gisele and Chloe. Lunch with Roy and Vera. Enjoying the gardens. Missing Eric. Missing Vera. Talking to Roy. Reminiscing. Remembering God's faithfulness. Hope. Peace.

My Memory of Innes Stiles is his sense of humour. He was very intelligent and quck witted. He enjoyed a laugh and making others laugh. He loved the stock exchange and his family. I can see him in my mind's eye reading the newspaper, feeding his goldfish, sitting in his kitchen enjoying the nature of his backyard. He was in our lives for 28 years and we loved him.
